Yup. Blew up his damn elbow -- broken bones and stuff. Docs put it back together with screws and plates and catgut. This was in 2009 when he was pitching for some indy league team. He was out of baseball in 2010 but rehabbed his elbow/arm he suddenly was throwing 91 then 93 then 96/7.

Now he's 28 and in the big leagues.

A bionic man and a pothead. That's where you can find reliefers.

The Bobby V Boston thing couldn't be going more hilariously. Getting uproariously boo'ed 14 games into the season on pitching changes. He literally couldn't have fucked things up more short of getting arrested so far

Getting arrested might have been less of a disaster.

It's not like the Red Sox finished spectacularly last year. Maybe they just suck.

Toronto and Cincinnati with some issues there as well. But at least they weren't so dumb as to pay a closer $2M more than he's worth on Fangraphs.

Since start of September, Red Sox are 11-30. That's a .268 winning%. A team that loses 100 games in a year has higher %.

it's amazing how far the perception of the franchise has fallen in such a short amount of time, too

Hire Bobby V when the Sox fire him in May. That would be cool.

D-Train left Norfolk without permission and was put on the restricted list because Baltimore wants him to be a reliever and he thinks he's a starter. ummmm, no

I noticed baseball-reference has 1918 box scores now, and it got me looking more into the career of Gavvy Cravath

In particular, I enjoyed this about his career: In 1914, he led the league in HR. 19 of them were at home. 0 on the road.

They also had some crazy road trips and homestands in those days. The Phillies played games #31-54 at home, then played #55-83 on the road.
