The victim had scratches and nothing more, the report says.  No word if Young swung at him. But yeah, he probably did because he swings at everything, and yeah, he probably missed.

I don't think the couple was taunting the kid.

The only time I ever got a ball at a game was in Cincinnati. I was walking down the ramp when the game was over and one dropped by me- obviously dropped by someone. It was obviously a game-used ball with the smudges and wear. I picked it up and waited to see if anyone was looking for one, because I was going to give it back. Nobody claimed it, so I waited by the player's exit to see if I could get someone to scribble on it. Ryan Howard signed it.

 you guys are kid hatin' jerks

for the record, i think the parents did the right thing by not freaking out on the couple. i thought the couple were just oblivious to what was going on, not openly mocking the child.

but ffs, back off on the three year old! he threw a fit, it's what they do! :-D

What the hell is the matter with you people. EVERYTHING we do should be FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!

Crying kids deserve baseballs at ballgames. Not yuppie engaged couples who use their phone to take pictures, ffs.

That and athletes shouldn't be making millions of dollars so teacher would be paid more.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Parents who bring 2 year olds to baseball games should bring a baseball with them. When the kid starts crying that he wants a ball pull it out of your pocket and give it to him. The kid will be happy and have no idea what the difference is.

Better yet, don't bring a 2 year old to a baseball game.

Two months ago at the Rays/Yanks spring training game, my boss caught a foul two rows in front of me and ended up on the MSG telecast.

Another foul ball story: back in my high school days about 15 years ago, a friend and I had box seats down the RF line for a Sunday game against the Giants. Just in case we ended up on TV somehow, I set the VCR to record the game. So we get there and it's cloudy, a little bit of rain, and the woman in front of us has her umbrella up, so I move to the empty seat to the right of my friend so I can see. Around the 6th inning, here comes a foul pop towards us, my friend reaches over the woman's umbrella and catches it and gets a nice ovation from the crowd. Awesome. So we get back home and fast-forward to the point in the game where he caught it, and you hear the cheering, then the camera shows my friend holding the ball....Harry Kalas says "Nice catch by a fan who brought a glove..."....AND IM BLOCKED BY THE FUCKING UMBRELLA, so all you see is my sneakers. FFS. But then I reached down for my soda and I got on camera for one second before it cut back to the batter. I rule

A few years ago, a group from my church at the time went to a Williamsport CrossCutters game. Easier to get balls at a minor league game, but the grandson of one of my members was a little upset that he came *thisclose* to getting one. He was like 5. His grandfather went to the team store and bought a $5 souvenir ball. Kid was happy.

Once, many years ago, I bought a hardball at the sporting goods store.

I bought a baseball at the Baseball Hall of Fame gift shop. I have no idea why I bought that baseball.

A few years ago at a Threshers game, a foul ball bounced right to me. About a minute later a mom comes up to me with her crying son who was probably 8 or 9 asking that I give him the ball because it HIT HIM IN THE HEAD. Complete bull shit because I saw the ball hit a sea of empty seats and it was scorched, so if it had hit him in the head he would be dead. Having been to hundreds of minor league games and getting my fair share of foul balls with like 50 people in the stands to compete with, I gave it to him because, frankly, I just don't care. But I wish there were another kid close by so I could've given it to him or her first and told that lying sack of shit mother to dry her whiny son's tears with more stupid Wii games that he doesn't deserve or appreciate. But I've never caught a major league foul ball or home run.* If and when I do, I'm keeping it no matter how many children are crying about it.

*Several years ago at a Rays game I reached for a foul ball and it grazed off my fingers. An old guy ended up getting it. I should have cried.
