Ha, I was assuming that you gotta look at that ERA is where they start with these sorts of negotiating sessions, but I really have no idea.

Pretty good article from Murphstud on the payroll. Long story short, he estimates $39M to spend this offseason on the closer, shortstop, hitting depth, and rotation depth.

The only reason I'm not 100% sure it's fake is Eskin said hello to him in there.

I really want to take a chance on Sizemore.

per wikipedia:

•Sizemore committed to play in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, but pulled out after injuring his left groin early in spring training.

•On September 9, 2009 after struggling through a subpar season, Grady elected to have surgery on his left elbow which had troubled him since spring training.[8] Having the surgery performed one month before season's end allowed for more healing time and preparation for the following year. Cleveland was already eliminated from playoff contention by the time of his decision. One week after the elbow surgery, he also elected to have surgery on his lower abdomen to repair a hernia that was related to the groin injury which forced him from the World Baseball Classic,[9] thus ending his 2009 season one month before the final game.

•During the offseason, Sizemore's girlfriend, Brittney Binger, was the victim of an internet hacker. As a result, several photos of Sizemore were stolen from Binger's personal e-mail account. Sizemore was near-nude in most of the photos, including the infamous coffee cup photo

•After playing in 33 games, Sizemore's 2010 season ended after microfracture surgery was performed on his left knee

[*]Sizemore returned to the Cleveland Indians from his microfracture surgery, after rehabilitating in AAA, on April 17, 2011. Sizemore went 2 for 4 in 4 at-bats with a double and homerun. The Indians won the game 4–2. Sizemore returned to the disabled list in May with a right knee contusion after sliding into a base. In mid-July, Sizemore was again placed on the disabled list following another injury to his right knee; shortly afterwards, he had a second sports hernia surgery, expected to sideline him into September.[11] Through 2011, he had the third-best career fielding percentage of all major league outfielders (.9935), behind Shane Victorino and Ryan Braun

Besides all that, nothing

A lot. But really, worst case scenario is that you flush 6 mil. We've done that before for much less. If he's healthy, I don't think 4 WAR is out of the question. That's better than anything we ever got out of Raul. Seems like a nice risk to take. An expensive Werth circa 2007 with higher upside.

MLBTR's projected arbitration figures for the Phils:

Hamels = $14.0M
Pence = $11.1M
Kendrick = $3.2M
Francisco = $1.5M
Valdez = $900K

That's an easy 4 mil to clear off the roster.

Wow, I'd forgotten Sizemore was traded by the Expos to the Indians along with CLIFF LEE and Brandon Phillips for Bartolo Colon, who pitched 17 games for them. They did manage to flip Colon for Rocky Biddle, however.
