I highly doubt the Phils offer Oswalt arbitration. They declined his $16MM '12 salary and they have to offer him 70% of his '11 ($16MM) number at least in arb I believe so that's $11.2 MM. Madson and Rollins make sense.
Weren't people saying we should bring back Oswalt on a 2/20 type deal? If that was a viable option, wouldn't 1/11.2 be an acceptable risk? Especially since if he turns it down we get 2 draft pics? I'd love to get those 3 1st round and 3 supplemental round picks. Restocking the farm would be badass.

he's not going to accept it. and if he does then you'll get a solid pitcher at a decent price
Decent price if you think the Phils win at $11.2MM I guess. What if Oswalt wins at $16MM? That's on top of the fact he just got $2MM from the Phils to walk.
That's a good question, and I don't know a ton about arb awards, but isn't it based on prior season performance? He was 9-10 and pitched 139 innings with 3.69 ERA. That is the fewest IP of his career, and his second highest ERA of his career. His 3.69 ERA puts him at 39th in the league among pitchers with at least 100 IP, tied with Randy Wolf, Javier Vazquez and Joe Saunders.
For comparison 2011 salaries for the 3 above pitchers Vazquez 7 mil Wolf 9.5 mil Saunders 5.5 mil ( I don't think he has enough service time to be an FA though)
