Should've limited the starters innings. OK we didn't want to take them out after 6-innings. But how about fake DL stints? It did wonders for Cole in 2007 (even if most of the benefit was in 2008)

I full expect Moyer to have taught himself a knuckler and pitch into his mid 50s.

the closest i could come up with would be greg swindell who picked up a knuckle-curve later in his career.

The (Mostly) Complete List of Knuckleball Pitchers lists approximately 85 individuals on a list of Knuckleball Pitchers, based on Rob Neyer's definition, which includes any pitcher "who would not have been in the majors without his knuckleball, or whose knuckleball was considered his best pitch, at least for a time." An additional 85 or so individuals are listed as having "Used the Knuckleball as a Regular Pitch", which includes those who didn't make the first list, but "regularly tossed up a knuckler as part of their standard repertoire." Both lists include a handful of non-pitchers who used the knuckleball in some extremely limited circumstances.

So there HAVE been some LH knucklers- most notable Wilbur Wood.

AZ, a knuckleball and a knuckle-curve are related in name only.

I'd love to know what the plans are for Victorino long-term. If they're uncertain, it could make sense to acquire another CF type. Play him in LF this year (with Mayberry covering for Howard and then starting occasionally in the outfield).

Healthy competition for OF playing time and contract extensions...

Rube said on WIP he's playing the offseason passive aggressively because the priorities are to re-sign Madson and Rollins, so he's gotta wait and see what they're doing before making moves

Difference to me is that he'll actually make an offer whereas he was more tight-lipped about Werth and with Burrell he basically said he wasn't coming back.

I wonder if he'll offer arb. When Moyer was a FA he didn't and then re-signed him anyway.

How the hell did Charlie Hayes finish 16th in the MVP voting in 1995?

He got a 7th place vote for his grittiness (tm).
