It's quite possible they could clinch the division between games of a double header.

if that happens, might see Victorino shot gunning beers in the dug out during the night cap. It's times like that, that this team will miss Werth most.

Utley ranked #2 in "Baseball's Meanest Player", ahead of the likes of Milton Bradley, Carlos Zambrano and Vincente Padilla. Interesting choice by the 215 polled players:

He slides hard and it hurts my shins. Shouldn't that be a five yard penalty?

If I remember correctly, they clinched a playoff berth last year via loss of another team, so no one was around to celebrate it. They did celebrate the division title a few days later.

The 2009 clincher against Houston actually happened earlier in that 9th inning when the Braves lost

Over the last 7 years the Phillies have a winning record against every team in the NL except for the Astros. Thank God the Astros were the first team eliminated so they won't have to face them in the playoffs.

I think the magic number for best record in the majors is something like 8.

I think that's it. I wonder if when a player tries to chat it up with him while on base, like mlb players do, they take his lack of conversation as just being rude and dickish.

whatever

5 straight playoff appearances is a pretty big deal. I know most here have seen more Phillies baseball than me, but it wasn't that long ago that I was looking forward to Robert Person starts
