Was bored again and decided to check our starter's WAR total against everyone else in all the listed years on fangraphs.

Our WAR total of 25.8 is the highest total since '97 when the Braves had a total of 26.4. The 03' Yanks and '02 Dbacks came very close but fell short. Of all the recorded WAR totals on Fangraphs going back to '74 (before that, no WAR totals are listed) the '11 Phils are #2.

*Edit* Doing the same for ERA, the last team to have a rotation with a sub 3 ERA is the '92 Braves with a 2.95 ERA. Then the '88 Mets with a 2.97 ERA.

The '85 Dodgers and Mets are the only two teams in the last 26 years with a lower starter's ERA than our Phils mark of 2.86, the Dodgers with a 2.71 and the Mets with 2.84. So in conclusion this Phils rotation is the greatest starting rotation in the last 25 years by ERA and 2nd best since god knows when in WAR.

Tried to get Stark to run with the awesome rotation factoids, but he'd rather make crappy jokes about the Cubs and the WS.

Baez is a pretty good example of why ground ball pitchers need more going for them than just being groundball pitchers.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Just saw over at CBS that Quentin may be on the block as Kenny Williams told MLB.com that "“we’re going to let the kids play" in 2012. Dude is highly productive when he isn't on the DL and he was a popular name on this board before we got Pence.

I'd wager good money Mayberry Jr would significantly out perform Quentin for significantly less money
