In just a short decade, this town has transformed into Phillies mania. We're no longer miserable. The sun shines brighter. We don't wait for those inevitable bad things to happen. Baseball has brought this city together. CLIFF LEE.

He wants 5, we'll offer 3, he'll shop and not get five, Rube will do the Moyer/Ibanez/Polanco one year surplus and give him 4, and I'll be fine with it

Money not really an issue either. Difference between 12 and 15 per year is 1.8% of the payroll for the year

Just a few notes on the Phillies in post-season play as we get ready to head into the 2011 post-season:

1) The Phillies have played 98 post-season games in their history; game two of the NLDS will be their 100th.

2) The Phillies all-time post-season record is 47-51.

3) More than half of the franchise's post-season games have taken place since 1993.

4) More than half of the franchise's post-season wins have occurred since 2008.

5) The Phillies have never played in a game-7 in a post-season series. They have played in a game 5 in a best-of-five series twice, beating Houston in the NLCS in 1980, losing to Montreal in the division series in 1981.

IIRC the 1981 Expos series was 3 games due to strike: 1st half winner vs. 2nd half winner.

Pretty sure it was five games, Expos won the first two in Montreal, Phils won the next two in Philadelphia (I remember a walk-off homer by George Vuckovich) and then Steve Rogers bested Steve Carlton in game 5.

I thought so too but it was a best of 5:

Phils lost the first two; came back to win two; then Steve Freakin' Rogers.

I was in Italy; no internets. Had to read about it in the Stars and Stripes.

Geez, look at those attendance totals. I know there was some hangover from the strike, but those are bad crowds, particularly games 3 and 4, after a World Championship season.

cameron, poor guy, has gone so far off the rails that he should switch to being a met fan so we can put him in the pity thread. he's now drinking the braves bullpen koolaid and advocating the braves giving hudson the early hook and giving 2 innings each to venters and kimbrel.

Funny you mentioned it. I went to the Vukovich game. I easily got a 200 level seat the day of the game. It was a strange atmosphere for a post-season game.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a better idea than using their ace, with the quite-possible prospect of a play-in game looming
