A Sandy Koufax type role? What the hell does that mean?

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Pedro came back and announced that this was his new policy.

He's so random/weird/cool like that.

"I see myself as an assistant general manager with special assignments to work with pitchers at times, sort of what he has done with Sandy Koufax Los Angeles Dodgers," said Martinez.

Also, isn't Enrique Rojas the guy who Martinez is always lying to about these things? He's pretty much just trying to see how far he can go before Rojas won't believe him.

Oh. Well, the idea of Pedro imparting his knowledge to our young pitchers is one I could sign up for...

Phils have the three best pitchers in the NL by both fWAR and rWAR. by rWAR they're also the 3rd, 4th and 5th best players in the NL overall (behind Kemp and McCutchen)

like, not even just the best 1, the best 2 and the best 3
the Phils' 3rd-best is better than everyone else's #1
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

It didn’t take much more interrogation for Manuel to admit that Madson was hurt, however, the injury itself remains a mystery.

Manuel described the injury as a “tingling” or a “feeling” in his hand and/or fingers.

So, I am assuming this leaves Bastardo as the closer?

Hopefully Chloe pitches nine tonight. The A's were not exactly the most potent offense last night.

I know the conventional wisdom is that any "rivalry" between the Eagles and Phillies is more invented than real, but last week I heard some hearsay evidence to the contrary: according to Glen Macnow, it's Eagles policy that their employees may not wear Phillies gear inside the Linc, and folks have been fired for violating this policy. Wonder if the Phils have a similar policy.

Phils on pace to give up the fewest runs in a single NL season since the 1972 Pirates. They only played 155 games though so Phils even below their RA/G pace

Didn't Polanco play LF and Pujols 3B for Pujols rookie year? Then they traded? Utley can stay at 2B, Polanco at 3B and Pujols at LF.

giving anyone 30+ mil a year for that many consecutive years is ridiculous.

also, if bell is getting 3/33, what figure is madson projecting this offseason?

Nope. Polanco has only played 5 games in LF, all with us in 2005. Pujols did play all four corner positions in 2001.
Yes son. I'm the best mono-thingy guy there ever was.
