This is some Mets $#@!

He's pitched through nagging injuries this his whole career, which is why he's had 84 cortisone shots. He probably hurls racial slurs at the trainers when they ask him how he's doing

Shouldn't have let Oswalt throw a 2nd inning tonight. Pitch counts. Now his career is over.

Most poignant quote from Oswalt, responding to somebody who asked why he has continued to pitch: "I didn't want to be labeled a quitter."

Note to all Phillies too injured to play even a little effectively: please quit in the future

Seriously, we've gotten to this point with Oswalt at about 50% this year so far

Hopefully, he can get healthy and pitch come August or so. If not, then we hope Big Joe comes back healthy himself

Seriously, we arguably have the 3 best pitchers in baseball... we're good... let's just not get another one hurt

Rube's gotta make a deal for a semi-decent pitcher. Unless you want Kendrick getting starts at the 5 or maybe you just put Vance there full time and see what the kid does.

Blanton's coming back in a couple weeks. I don't think we need to be talking trade just yet.

Worley and Kendrick as the 4 and 5 for the time being. Blanton and Oswalt replacing them when they come back.

Would rather Vucevic pitch.

I mean what do we need, 1 or 2 starts from our fifth starter between now and the ASB?

What's Blanton's timetable?

Cant imagine Blanton is back before mid July. He hasn't even started a throwing program yet, has he? He last pitched on May 14, which means he's a candidate to move to the 60 day DL when they need to free up a 40 man spot for Schwimer.

Figure once Blanton starts throwing, its off flat ground. Then a week later, he moves to the mound. Then he throws a full bullpen session. Then he goes on a rehab assignment and makes at least 3 starts. They aren't rushing him back this time. He's out till at least mid July, barring some big turnaround.

Worley and Kendrick are the 4/5

bring up Schwimer for the pen.

There's no guarantee Blanton will pitch again without surgery.

Not to distract everyone from the sadness and/or panic we are feeling today with the apparent demise of Roy Oswalt as a big league pitcher, but for anyone who reads UniWatch, there is an item in the ticker today about Shane Victorino's batting helmet that was caught and pointed out to him by yours truly.

Once again, one of my posts is totally out of step with the mood of this place. Back to worrying about Oswalt and the Phillies diminshed team. :(

Good work, Andrew.

I feel pretty fucking good with Halladay, Lee, Hamels.
