Beltran was an elite CFer before his injury(ies). I'm sure he could make a go of it in LF.

The Mets will never regret trading Beltran to the Phillies. The Phillies will win the division regardless and the Mets will finish wherever they will finish regardless as well.

Dan Uggla has a .188 BABIP. He has 19 RBIs. Both seem impossible.

If they played in a vacuum, I'd agree. But the Mets have already antagonized their fanbase a whole helluva lot with all their mismanagement and poor play. I think they'd have to think about trading Beltran to the Phillies long and hard from a "political" standpoint - meaning, how badly will they get killed on WFAN if it is perceived that they are not only badly run and looking to dump payroll, but are willing to help their main rival win a WFC in order to dump payroll?

Basically says take the 2 draft picks instead, use the money on Cole, and make Contreras the closer until DeFratus or Aumont takes over in 2013
