It occurred to me this morning that one wonderful consequence of this new Halladay mania could be that the team doesn't make offers to Condrey or, please please God, Durbin. That extra $4 million or so those two guys would cost suddenly looks important in the context of "$140 million or bust, including Roy."

How much is Condrey in line to make next year? I know Durbin made sort of real money this year.

Condrey's probably a $1 mil guy. Durbin would seek above $2 milin arb. He made $1.65 last year.

Bad as I perceive him to have been, he's actually outperformed his FIP by significant margins in each of the last two years. Bill James projects him for a 4.50 ERA next year with a WHIP of close to 1.5. Really would prefer not to pay >$2 million for that work.

How about when you get a no-trade clause and already play for a non-contender, there's no reason to accept a trade to anyone who isn't significantly better
