Holliday wanted to play for a team that contends every year... here comes free agency. Colorado might end up looking dumb when the A's cash in those picks. If not to the Phils, I am glad he is on an island in the AL. Better luck next year.

As far as Manny goes, it ain't his legs that worry me, its his head.

BTW: my 3 year old called Manny's dreads an octopus during the NLCS. I need to get that boy out in public a little more.

Glad the Phils didn't trade a bunch for Holliday. I like him and all, but Marson, Golson, and Donald can all provide upgrades this year over the bench we had last year.

Golson > Taguchi, at least in terms of defense and running, the two main ways Taguchi was used.

Marson > Coste, plus this allows them to trade Coste or use him as a pinch hitter or occassional rest of Howard against tough lefties

Donald > Bruntlett, and he may end up replacing Feliz at 3B in 2010

Plus, I don't expect us to get as lucky with pitching injuries in 2009 as we did in 2008. We'll probably need both Happ and Carrasco at some point next year.

I'd rather sign a FA or resign Burrell to a 2 year deal to play LF. Even if the signed FA is a Type A, we still end up with an extra supplemental pick (and a good chance at an upgrade in the 1st round).
