I love the guy. I want him back. I want him to be a Phillies, in uniform or street clothes, for life, if possible. But as great as he is, as much as we all like him, doesn't the calendar eventually win?
I guess it depends on how it's structured. My sense is Moyer wants at least 2 years for the security of having a place to call home for those years, to not have to go through the FA hoops next off season. Also, he has said he wants to pitch through 2010 so he can have that 4 decade thing. Heck, I wouldn't mind giving Moyer 2 or 3 years if the last year(s) is/are incentive laden (gets X amount for each Y innings pitched, or whatever is allowed by the rules). Some creative crafting so it won't be a financial restraint.
He's an oddity, for some reason that defies logic and natural law, he been getting better the older he gets. Who knows, he may retire at age 72, figuring a perfect game that caps an undefeated season is the perfect note to go out on...
