Phillies vs Dodgers: NLCS Discussion

Postby Wolfgang622 » Sun Oct 05, 2008 22:27:31

Here's a fun post from dodgerblues.com:

Our pitching has to be top notch in order for us to have a chance. Their lineup fucking scary. Also, we don't want to be trailing in the late innings because the Phillies' back end is as good as they get (especially Lidge, who has yet to blow a save this season).

If our bats can take care of business against the Phils' weak rotation (beyond Hamels, they don't have an ace), we should be able to win.

It's for like the most negative people in the world. The Dodgers fan forum is called "Brewers 16, Dodgers 1."

Yes, I was amused by that, in a c'mon-Phillies-beat-the-shit-out-of-their-team sort of way.

They do sound like BSGers though. "If our team can just hit (pitch) to their best pitcher (hitters) and our pitchers (hitters) show up than our team should win."

By BSGers I assume you mean Trent Steele.

Neyer is the smartest guy there though.

Every time he picks the Phillies to win anything, they don't. Every year, from 2003-2006, I think, he picked the Phillies for the playoffs, and every year they didn't make it. When he finally stopped, they got in.

Our loss in the NLDS to the Brewers was devastating. I'm still trying to recover from it.

Phillies in six. I predict Chris Coste will get a start or two and when he does, he will hit a home run.

I keep seeing stuff about how this is the Phillies' first NLCS appearance since 1993, but I haven't seen that it's the Dodgers' first NLCS appearance since 1988. Maybe getting dominated in the NLDS a few times erases people's memories.
