manny has approved a trade to the marlins via si.com, tho the players have not yet been completely agreed upon

as mentioned before, manny signed the paperwork that would drop the club '09 and '10 options

The point of doing this would be to drop all pretense that we're getting anything back, as they did with the Abreu trade. Having "changed the culture" at the major league level when he traded Abreu, he now wants to do the same at the minor league level before he leaves and he's afraid if he gets any players back in the trade, they'll just be cancers anyway. There had been talk of Boston shipping some baked beans to the Phillies in the deal, but it was decided there was already enough hot air in the Phils' front office.
