Yes. Yes. Yes.

However, in light of the Boston being the scene of his wifebeating, I think the BoSox may be reluctant to make that deal.

Too many post-trade articles about how Manny, as loopy as he was, never beat his wife or got in trouble with the law, and so on.

I would think they would want Werth back in any deal.

"If the Red Sox are a better team without Manny Ramirez, they should trade me; I will not object," said Ramirez in a telephone interview with ESPNdeportes.com on Sunday.

"I don't have any preferences: I could choose a team that offers me the best conditions or one in the chase for the postseason. I don't care where I play, I can even play in Iraq if need be. My job is to play baseball," added Ramirez.

You know, we really SHOULD sell. Dodgers would cream to get Howard. Somebody would love to have Burrell. Despite his troubles, I'd hold onto Jimmy, if only because of his contract. And in one or both of those trades, you insist they take Eaton, Myers and/or Jenkins.

CBP wouldn't stand on August 1st.

I'm not really a fan of one year rentals, but what about Maddux and Giles from the Padres? The Padres know they're out of it and Maddux might agree to a move to a contender. I think Giles has a club option with a 3 million buyout for next year. Include Myers in the trade and he can take over for Hoffman, who is in the last year of his contract. Myers wouldn't have as much HR trouble in SD.

Maddux has been #1 on my list of pitchers to acquire by the trading deadline. I think in terms of $/production/injury probability, he can't be beat.

Lauber:

Also, about those Manny Ramirez-to-the-Phillies reports that have been circulating in other cities: Forget about it. Gillick said last winter that the Phils wouldn't be eager to welcome the many distractions that come with Manny being Manny, and there's no indication that his or the Phillies' stance has changed. More important, though, Manny doesn't play right field, and if the Phillies add a bat, it most likely would have to be in right field.

Maddux has said more than once he has no desire to move away from the West Coast again, even if to a contender. I believe he has a full NTC.

Maddux has a 6.02 ERA on the road this year. I can understand why he's at the top of wishlists.

People have to stop believing that anybody is taking Eaton or Myers or Jenkins, unless they have a salary as big or bigger like NBA.

I don't see the Phils doing anything substantial, they could have done great deals in the offseason and failed to do so. They got us Joe-Blah not 10so a game Harden. Fahhgetabout it -- no Manny no unloading bad contracts to lousy players.

And what about Giles sucks? -- 126 OPS + and the second best defensive RF in MLB in Dewan =/-. That's not too shabby.

Maddux really isn't all that good any more -- I agree with that. He's a HERBIE leader though. :-D
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Get ready for this: Phillies grab a first inning run, in comes Bruntlett as a defensive replacement to make sure they hold that lead for those late 8 innings.
