That could be a really good thing if they panic into a stupid trade but it could be a bad thing if they go the extra mile and end up with another good player because they fear us getting Manny. It's going to be tough fo them given their lack of good prospects but it still makes me worried.

There is a rumor on a Mets board about the Mets trading Eddie Kunz for Arthur Rhodes.

If it is even the slightest bit valid, I love where this is going.

Probably. But I hadn't heard the 50-50 thing. We can always hope.

By the way, Heyman is great with all this stuff. To me it's him and Jayson Stark as far as rumors and breaking news. I don't hear or see Ken Rosenthal enough to include him. Gammons hasn't really been the same since his illness.

I think Rosenthal scooped every major off-season signing last year, as noted by MLBTR and other sources. He's great.

Late last night, Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus had an interesting rumor:

One good source told me that he had heard that the Marlins were involved, willing to give up Jeremy Hermida and Boston-area product Jeff Allison, but I couldn't confirm this. I just don't see this deal getting done.

I imagine the Red Sox would be willing to eat all of Ramirez's salary to get a player like Hermida. As Carroll said, it seems unlikely.
