Trading Burrell for Ramirez would hardly be a rental because who ever has Ramirez has him under control longer than they would Burrell, but please continue with your woodyisms.

a 20+m dollar club option is goign to be picked up by someone?

Aren't they club options?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ramirez's problems with the BoSox right now is that he doesn't want them to exercise his options. If we are to believe the Gammons article, he either wants an extension to his current deal or to be allowed to enter free agency after this year. He's looking for 4/100.

yes, hence he is still under their control

@kruker that might be the case, but I thought Epstein was just sick of Manny's antics. That would definitely make more sense though.

6:52pm: Jon Heyman says the Phillies might be the frontrunner for Manny. Ramirez will want his $20MM options eliminated upon a trade.

The Dodgers are also involved, with the Marlins surfacing as a longshot.

mlbtr.

If you eliminate his options, does that preclude a team from offering him arbitration? I'm cool with giving up prospects for Manny as long as we can get 2 back by offering him arbitration.

8:39pm: Ken Davidoff says the Teixeira deal makes a Manny trade more difficult, since that's one less option for Boston to replace Ramirez's bat. The Red Sox will keep trying nonetheless.

Many needs to shit or get off the hand towels already. Either be a Phillies or don't, buster.
