Saw this on the other board:

From Rotoworld

SI.com’s Jon Heyman believes the Phillies have the best chance of pulling off a deal for Manny Ramirez.

The Phillies and Red Sox are talking, but it’s unclear who else might be involved. Pat Burrell for Ramirez would make some sense, and Burrell has spoken in the past about waiving his no-trade clause to play for Boston. It's hard to imagine that the Red Sox would take Geoff Jenkins back, and the Phillies wouldn't want to put either Burrell or Ramirez in right field anyway. Heyman also says that the Marlins have been in touch with the Red Sox regarding Ramirez. However, a deal with Florida would be quite a long shot.
Source: SI.com
Related: Pat Burrell, Marlins, Phillies

How could a team that would bench Jimmy Rollins for not hustling, then bring in the most heartless dog in baseball? If Manuel kept those same standards for Manny, he'd never make it off the pine!

Was it already posted here?

And, at this point, what do we think? Are the Phillies talking with Boston or not? If so, why the emphatic denials?

Of course we're talking. I don't doubt for a moment that we are talking to them. Whether or not something gets done, who knows?

When we have Burrell in LF and Manny in RF - who does Manuel send So Taguchi in for in the 7th?

Can we have Burrell AND Manny in left and whoever in right? Only on defense? I feel like Burrell+Manny = one competent left fielder. Maybe.

what if we played Howard in the OF, kind of like in shallow RF between Manny and Victorino, and then Utley just bolted to cover first on every play?

Nothing real new but ... Jon Heyman on SNY here in New York just said he thinks its 50-50 Manny will be traded. And again, singled out the Phils as the "leader".

Probably. But I hadn't heard the 50-50 thing. We can always hope.

By the way, Heyman is great with all this stuff. To me it's him and Jayson Stark as far as rumors and breaking news. I don't hear or see Ken Rosenthal enough to include him. Gammons hasn't really been the same since his illness.

Thing is, if I'm the Red Sox, and I've put up with Manny for seven-and-a-half seasons, I can put up with two more months unless someone offers me something good. And really, unless there is a team out there with a true excess at a position of need for the Sox (and the Phillies certainly are NOT that team), no one should offer anything good.

I hope we're scaring the pants off the Mets and Omar anyway.

That could be a really good thing if they panic into a stupid trade but it could be a bad thing if they go the extra mile and end up with another good player because they fear us getting Manny. It's going to be tough fo them given their lack of good prospects but it still makes me worried.
