Manny will be a Phillies (version 3.11)

Postby CrashburnAlley » Wed Jul 30, 2008 19:00:49

Looks like activity has cooled off regarding Ramirez to the Marlins. I apologize for my haste in posting it but I reserve the right to pin this on Olney. 8-)

Baseball Prospectus' John Perrotto has multiple baseball sources saying the Red Sox are on the verge of sending Ramirez to Florida for three players, including outfielder Mike Stanton.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro is hearing about a three-way deal that would also send Jason Bay to the Red Sox.

I'm sure all the Marlins' fans will be ecstatic

Yep, both of them.

looks like Gillick is begging for this to go through so he can finally once and for all overpay for John Grabow or Ron Mahay

Sounds like Manny Ramirez is close to being dealt to the Florida Marlins. Florida would give up Ty Willingham or Jeremy Hermida plus two pitching prospects. Boston would pay almost all of Manny's remaining salary.

i think we can do better than a college football coach

i really dont understand why the phils arent doing this. boston is willing to eat the salary. if we were to trade werth+others, isnt that a very similar package to that of willingham+others. i really dont get why they wouldnt do this. it is so easy. then when he leaves in the offseason, they get 2 picks. this is almost a no brainer, at least to me

If this is true, I'm perfectly fine with Gilmarbuckle telling them to eff off... or at least countering, "how 'bout Jenkins and Jaramillo?"

where'd you hear that?

how is that even similar to what the marlins are offering. willingham is crap compared to bat. give him jaramillo. the red sox are schmucks if that is true

the 3 way trade talks have slowed.

from the retard,

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that trade talks between the Pirates and the Rays regarding Jason Bay have slowed.

Bay was included in Pittsburgh's lineup tonight, while Reid Brignac started for Triple-A Durham. Stark says one reason talks may have slowed is because the Pirates suspect the Red Sox will go after Bay if a Manny Ramirez trade gets done.

From what I've read, at least in the case of the Marlins, Manny is only waiving his NTC on the conditions of his option not being picked up and not being offered arbitration. So no picks.

Rumors of a 3 way are making Gillick uncomfortable.
