to put my buyback total at 23747. I have gone OVER their miles calculations so i take a deduction of 420 dollars for that. That leaves me at 23, 327$ that they'll give me for my car. Thats about what i paid for it a few years ago. I have 12.7k left in debt on the car. by the time this rolls out i'll have around 11.5k in debt. that should leave me with about 12k for a downpayment on a new car.

That price of 23, 327 INCLUDES the restitution(which is just column 2). So if i take t

Thanks, I see what I did... started down at my model year that lacked the headers. Clearly I hardly do my best work late at night, probably has to do with getting to work around 0600 compounded by the fact that I was actually watching the game last night. So I sit at +23K for the buy back. I do not have time at the moment, but there will be plenty of time to decode this, to sort out the other more mysterious part of the "repurchase price of their vehicle plus $5,100-$10,000 depending on the model and year". There seems to be some flip and flop of how that is being reported. I have heard it as rolled into the buy back, and reported as quoted above. I will read the actual court documents on the 'buy back' site. Regardless, it is a fairly good deal.

EDIT: I did take one last look and saw this, which is inline with what I thought I understood:

CASH PAYMENTS TO OWNERS (separate from Buyback/Modification choice)

The payment to owners who agree to participate in the settlement of the class-action suit is on top of, and entirely separate from, the buyback-or-modify decision.

Owners of the affected 2.0-liter diesel cars as of September 18, 2015, will be offered between $5,100 and $10,000.

The amount is established by a detailed set of calculations specified by the settlement agreement, and it cannot be reduced by lawyers' fees or other costs, which will be paid by Volkswagen.

I think I saw that the court docs are about 225 pages, so we will see if I bother to read it or just wait until the offer comes.

Hyundais are real nice now. I have a 2011 Sonata 2.0T and kind of want a new one. Only 63k miles though so it would be pointless.

I've had problems with it for sure...at least 4 recalls, new transmission harness, trans fluid temp sensor, completely new turbo. Fortunately all were under warranty or the dealer was able to petition Hyundai to cover it for me if the warranty just ran out and with my service history. So far I've paid for brakes, a battery, tires, and a couple of bulbs here and there.

Mine only had 44k miles on it embarrassingly enough. But I guess I also got p good value for it so whatever.

Pac, it has a "eco" and "sport" mode but I don't think that's what you're talking about. I considered the veloster turbo and sonata hybrid but they were outta my price range

My coworker just got a fiat 500 Abarth (?) and is gonna be paying 520/mo for 7 years for it. Made my eyes bulge a little

Here is my revisted math:

$2,986.73 plus 20 percent of your car’s value.

22517 (Car from Table column A)

+ 720 (Sunroof Bonus column A)

--------

23237

23237

* 1.2 (payout calculation is value of car 20% - the 1.2 just adds it to the running total)

_____

27884.4

27884.40

+ 2986.73 (everyone starts at 2986.73 as restitution)

--------------

$30,871.13 (projected)

I still need to bash the miles against the limits, but it is both lower miles, and helped by the fact that I bought it as a leftover so I should be OK as I have almost a year less driving on it then a lot of owners.

Yeah, at this point I'd get like 9 or 10k for mine so I feel like it's worth it to let it drop to 6 or 7k and hit 100k miles for the end of the warranty. Don't mind not spending 300 bucks a month on a car either...but the new ones look real nice. Didn't know you could get a super loaded Elantra for like 26k or a pretty nicely loaded one for 20k. I really think Hyundai is the best value in cars.

520/mo for 84 months for a fiat is ridiculous. That's like a new 3 series with 0 down. How is that even possible on a gd fiat?

About 2 months ago we got a new car--Mazda CX 5. Among its features are a back up camera. I think it makes parallel parking too easy.

Just bought a Honda Pilot for the family schlepping mobile. We moved up from the CRV. In the middle of the dealership my 5 year old son said loudly "this will be great for tailgating!" because I'm a good parent.

i have 2/32nds left. so i can't really risk it.

also, i'm going to keep the car and just take the money and fix. they're going to extend my warranty, give me 6500$ and do a 'computer fix' that i can just get reprogrammed for $500. Philadelphia is a no emissions county so i dno't have to worry about going through that.

My sister recently got a Tesla X. We are heading to LBI for our annual family vacation, and she lives in Northern Virginia. She can't drive it to the island because she wouldn't be able to get back (I assume she has done the research, but I find this hard to believe). Their other car is a little roadster that can't handle the whole family and all their stuff.

I'd happily trade my financial situation with theirs, but this is funny.

I think the issue is more that she won't be able to drive around on the island. I forgot to mention that.

I got 2 new tires this weekend. Costco said that one of the tire pressure sensors broke on installation, so they put in a new one. Drove away from the store with no issues. Was driving to work this morning, still no issues. As I was sitting in traffic going to the exit to work, I was rear ended, probably at 5 MPH. No visible damage except a faint license plate frame imprint on my bumper that I don't care about, but the service warning light turned on. I got the other drive's contact info, but I'm wondering if this is related to the crash or if it is related to the tire change and just a latent warning.

tire sensors and service warning light shouldn't be related. Screw on your gas cap tighter and go to autozone to get your DTC code checked and reset for free. Or get a bluetooth OBD thingy and use the torque app to do it yourself.
