to put my buyback total at 23747. I have gone OVER their miles calculations so i take a deduction of 420 dollars for that. That leaves me at 23, 327$ that they'll give me for my car. Thats about what i paid for it a few years ago. I have 12.7k left in debt on the car. by the time this rolls out i'll have around 11.5k in debt. that should leave me with about 12k for a downpayment on a new car.
That price of 23, 327 INCLUDES the restitution(which is just column 2). So if i take t
CASH PAYMENTS TO OWNERS (separate from Buyback/Modification choice)
The payment to owners who agree to participate in the settlement of the class-action suit is on top of, and entirely separate from, the buyback-or-modify decision.
Owners of the affected 2.0-liter diesel cars as of September 18, 2015, will be offered between $5,100 and $10,000.
The amount is established by a detailed set of calculations specified by the settlement agreement, and it cannot be reduced by lawyers' fees or other costs, which will be paid by Volkswagen.

i was looking at one of those yesterday.
I've had problems with it for sure...at least 4 recalls, new transmission harness, trans fluid temp sensor, completely new turbo. Fortunately all were under warranty or the dealer was able to petition Hyundai to cover it for me if the warranty just ran out and with my service history. So far I've paid for brakes, a battery, tires, and a couple of bulbs here and there.
Yeah, at this point I'd get like 9 or 10k for mine so I feel like it's worth it to let it drop to 6 or 7k and hit 100k miles for the end of the warranty. Don't mind not spending 300 bucks a month on a car either...but the new ones look real nice. Didn't know you could get a super loaded Elantra for like 26k or a pretty nicely loaded one for 20k. I really think Hyundai is the best value in cars.td11 wrote:JUburton wrote:Hyundais are real nice now. I have a 2011 Sonata 2.0T and kind of want a new one. Mine only had 44k miles on it embarrassingly enough. But I guess I also got p good value for it so whatever.
Pac, it has a "eco" and "sport" mode but I don't think that's what you're talking about. I considered the veloster turbo and sonata hybrid but they were outta my price range
My coworker just got a fiat 500 Abarth (?) and is gonna be paying 520/mo for 7 years for it. Made my eyes bulge a little

For the car VW is buying from you? When does that happen?

She can't drive it to the island because she wouldn't be able to get back (I assume she has done the research, but I find this hard to believe). Their other car is a little roadster that can't handle the whole family and all their stuff.
I'd happily trade my financial situation with theirs, but this is funny.

i have 2/32nds left. so i can't really risk it.
also, i'm going to keep the car and just take the money and fix. they're going to extend my warranty, give me 6500$ and do a 'computer fix' that i can just get reprogrammed for $500. Philadelphia is a no emissions county so i dno't have to worry about going through that.

pretty sure you're mistaken here (unless it's a diesel thing)

Was driving to work this morning, still no issues. As I was sitting in traffic going to the exit to work, I was rear ended, probably at 5 MPH. No visible damage except a faint license plate frame imprint on my bumper that I don't care about, but the service warning light turned on. I got the other drive's contact info, but I'm wondering if this is related to the crash or if it is related to the tire change and just a latent warning.

you'd think there's a rest stop along the way that can charge a car
