anyone listen to wtf with marc maron? there was an article on it in the NY TIMES
“What helps him,” said Judd Apatow, the director and producer, and another recent guest, “is the fact that people mistakenly think that no one is going to listen to it, when in fact a ton of people listen to it, and it will last forever.”

The do-it-yourself quality of the podcast — his setup includes only a laptop computer or digital recorder, a mixer and two microphones — puts guests at ease. As Mr. Apatow put it, “You kind of feel like he might lose the tape on the way home.”

I read that article, it is good. I love WTF, and the Apatow 2-parter is one of the best eppies.

I finally got into Comedy Death Ray. Paul F. Tompkins is a freaking genius. I like Nick Kroll a lot, too.

I'm really hoping this week for a Simmons/ Jacoby podcast to discuss all things Jersey Shore.

Ive been listening to Kornheiser show on podcast every day for the last few months. Definitely as strong as its been since he went on hiatus for MNF. But David Aldridge adds NOTHING and is terrible. gary braun and some combo of liz/tori clarke or jean mcmanus is a must.

Both of Simmons' podcasts this week were really good. Stern had some decent stuff and then him with Kimmel was quite funny.

I've been doing the NPR Planet Money podcast. Michael Lewis was on this week and was pretty entertaining.

After co-hosting ESPN's Baseball Today podcast with Eric Karabell for a year, Seth Everett is leaving. He said he got a job with NJ Nets radio as well as an unspecified job with the Phillies.

Keith Law is the new co-host for Baseball Today podcast. Awesome news.

Of course, Karabell is still kind of tard-y, but whatever.

The Kevin Pollack Chat Show is probs my favorite right now. They used to have all episodes on youtube in their entirety for free, now you gotta pay $5 for a season, which is pretty cheap. I think the most recent 2-3 are up for free. The Larry King Game, I wish I'd thought of that, its fantastic. Matthew Perry's is my pick for best rendition.

not really a podcast, but I like to listen to the Dan Patrick show's limited-commercial podcast because he gives good interviews with good guests. I don't like him as a baseball guy but there are very few mainstream personalities that can talk baseball effectively. Anyway, Howard Eskin has been guest-hosting recently and it is absolutely hilarious - he pulled the old Carmelo Martinez when he meant Carmelo Anthony (and Ike Reese wasn't there to correct him), his current whipping boy. Patrick's usual support staff (the Danettes) are on duty with Eskin, it would be interesting to see how they feel about him (for real, surprisingly, they seem to get along pretty well). I must say he is better on this show than he ever can be on WIP, but his strange grudges and arrogance keep popping up and he can't really answer many tough questions from the staff (most involving his latent racism about Carmelo and his bizarre vision of the NBA and Cam Newton's willingness to talk about his ability to entertain).

Lenny Dykstra is up the next hour, I may have to listen.

Dykstra was a hit. Charlie Sheen is a genius and everybody, and I mean everybody, stole money from Lenny - the Phils included (well, they got their insurance money back). Eskin was actually pretty funny, asked everything and got nothing but rambling from Lenny Dykstra.

Lenny offered to fly Eskin to Charlie Sheen's next time (on Charlie's jet).

and Lenny hates baseball now - too many strikeouts these days.

and Eskin excuses Lenny's steroid use because it wasn't like Bonds and McGwire.

I hope Dan Patrick brings all of this up when he is back from vacation.
