I finished it too. Don't disagree with anything you wrote.

Seems like the Serial folks like telling stories that don't really have a concrete ending.

Agree. Was ok, but was hoping for more. More mystery or something.

[Reveal] Spoiler:
First two episodes are about a murder that didn't happen. Next two are about a suicide and fighting over John's stuff. Then the final three about how he had some strange tendencies in relationships, his love of inflicting pain on himself, and his nipples.

After three and a half episodes, I'm enjoying it but not really having my socks blown off or anything. It's interesting that they sat on it for two and a half years.

I'm only half way through but yeah it doesn't seem like it's going to be some big crime caper neatly wrapped up at the end. I think it was smart to release them all at once to avoid an /r/stown situation

I agree with the points above, and

[Reveal] Spoiler:
feel pretty uncomfortable with how deeply they delved into John's life. especially the gay phone bank buddy (a whole episode on that dude? really?), which the dude could easily have been fabricating, and the s&m type stuff. Hopefully the producers got a real feel for whether John would have been cool with divulging to millions of people, but by all accounts it sounds like he was pretty guarded about his sexuality and that very few people knew about the self-pain infliction.

At the end of the day, this was a mostly common and straightforward story, like the first Serial. But because of how well it was produced and how much people were raving about it, you kept waiting for that twist around the corner. Shrewd to only release a few episodes to critics and industry friends, and to then put it all out at once to the public, yeah. I feel like they could have fit almost all of the good stuff into two hours.

A few days after finishing S Town:

[Reveal] Spoiler:
Despite enjoying it, I was disappointed on Thursday when I finished it. Thought I must have missed a chapter because it was so incomplete. A few days later I've actually grown to appreciate it more. At the end of the day, I don't care if there was gold or who found it. I can't remember a podcast making me laugh so hard one minute and feel so uncomfortable the next. I keep laughing at the "hiding in the woods is like tea time in England" line and Tyler saying "hellllllll yes" when asked if he was looking for the gold. I'm glad I listened to it.

Someone come up with a witty name for a new podcast thread, I don't want too, and we have that arbitrary 50 page limit.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.
