Basically you replace one AA battery in a battery-powered device (that uses more than one AA, I think) and you can turn that device on and off remotely via bluetooth (iOS and Android apps available. Sorry Moz).

Seems neat. Struggling to think of a good use case for me, though.

If you put it in a flashlight, then when the power goes out, it would be easier to find the flashlight.

That's about all I got.

I'm looking to add an a2dp Bluetooth reciever to my car. I have an after market head unit in my car already and I installed an aux port in the rear of the setup. I'm looking a reciever with a few specific functions.

Primary requirements:
Once I pair it with my iPhone, it will stay paired to that phone until I reset it
It will automatically connect to my iPhone when I get in the car
It will run off of USB power
It will turn on when the car turns on

Secondary Requiremets (nice to haves):
It will begin playing whatever is cued up upon connection

The idea is, I want to hook it all up behind my dashboard so there are no visible wires, and I don't want to ever have to access the unit unless I need to pair a new device. I've been looking on amazon and newegg and eBay, and I can't tell what has these features exactly and what doesn't. I'm putting this in my "beater car" so I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on the device I'm looking to spend $30 give or take. Anyone have any suggestions? It would seem to me what in looking for is a pretty basic bt receiver, but so far I haven't found any that I can confirm has exactly the features I'm looking for.

Anyone use a Harmony remote? I'm getting a new setup and will be controlling a cable box/ps3/receiver and kind of want to get one. The Ones are 300 bucks though and I realllllly don't want to drop 300 bucks on a remote. I wonder if the refurbs for 150 are dependable.

I think they're pretty much obsolete. Get a 7" Samsung galaxy tab and it can be your remote and a whole lot more.

Hmm. I am intrigued. And they're cheaper than those stupid remotes.

I've got a 900, two Ones and recently got a 650. If you've only got a few devices, get the 650 for $75 on Amazon. The problem (for me) with any fully touchscreen remote (including a tablet) is the lack of any hard buttons. If you like to change channels, view the guide, stop and start the DVR and you like to do them without having to constantly look at the remote, you need hard buttons. I've tried the Samsung SmartView app, L5 remote and RedEye for iPad and have found them all lacking. Like most things it's a matter of personal preference.

Hmm, the touch thing is a good point. I like being able to not look at the remote at all. I guess essentially 2 remotes (plus a ps3 controller) won't be so bad for a bit. I'll just try that for now and see if I get sick of it.

I have an old 620 that I bought years ago from Costco for $50. Still use it everyday and am very happy with it. One thing worth noting is the PS3 requires a bluetooth remote, which I don't think is available natively on most (or maybe even all) Harmony models. Logitech does have a separate adapter that converts the signal. I haven't tried it myself, though.
Another day, another box of stolen pens.

So, I got this http://www.xtrememac.com/en-US/products ... e-auto-bt/ on dailysteals.com for $15 to give it a try. It does not connect automatically, which is a bit of a drag, but the piece that plugs into the head unit has a button on it that once you presses it connects to your phone automatically. It doesn't start the music automatically, but pressing the button a second time does.

Right now I just have it plugged into the lighter and the plug into the input on the front of my head unit, but I think this weekend in going to hide the lighter plug behind the dash and run an extension from the rear input of my head unit to one of the unused access panels next to my stearing wheel. That way it'll be completely hidden and the button will be in a less conspicuous spot and, since its a mic, it'll be closer to my face which would hopefully make the handsfree calling work well. Really impressed with the sound quality on this unit, I was expecting interference or a ground loop, but its crystal clear. Bluetooth is awesome

Just ordered the new Chromecast through Amazon. $35 dongle that allows me to stream from my tablet/phone/laptop to my TV, and it comes with three free months of Netflix streaming. No-brainer.
