Anyone have any recommendations for an ssd for a desktop? I'm looking for either a ~128gb or a ~256gb to put windows 8 as well as some of the core desktop apps on.
I was looking at this one from new egg of eBay, but I don't know what I'm looking for really in an ssd.

Looks like they sold out of them though.

I've head great luck with these guys. I got them on sale at different times, though. That $149 price was pretty good on the SANdisk.

Shouldn't need anything larger than 128GB for the OS and core apps. I have an 80GB Intel SSD that serves the same purpose on my desktop machine. Been running fine since the summer of 2011, and I bought it off of my brother who had used it for at least a year prior to that. The 128GB Crucial from Bucky's link is worth it for $133 IMO.

Stick with Crucial M4. Best SSD value proposition. I have 6 of them and they're all working flawlessly in Windows 8, Windows 7 and OS X.

PS If you don't have one already, be sure to buy a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter unless your desktop has special 2.5 bays/slots.

Thanks guys. I setup some camelcamelcamel deal alerts on those crucial drives. If I can find a 128gb for < $100 ima jump on it. I'll keep looking though I've had good luck with sandisk media so I'll give them a shot if I can find a deal. I see a lot if Samsung drives out there as well but I've seen some mixed reviews, I'll probably look to go with a sandisk or a crucial.

just ordered the hp slate 7 tablet with 8gb for 110 bucks at staples. i really wanted to go with a 10 inch ipad, but figured this deal was just too good to pass up. my uses for this will primarily be just for browsing while watching tv, in bed, on toilet and bill paying. i figure if i find more ways to use a tablet in my daily life, than maybe i can justify spending 500 for an ipad down the road.

You're going to get pretty much the same apps, so its tough to come up reasons for getting the ipad.

Still love my nook hd+. Really runs smooth.

It appears that unless Canonical call pull off a miracle with enterprises, this isn't going to happen. After the first-day surge, the donations have fallen way off the pace. Too bad, because this is a fantastic idea.

I wonder if Microsoft is working on anything like this. If I recall, Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 share the same OS core, so it isn't too far-fetched to think that in the future they might be the same... That might be the only way that MS can keep the Windows Phone platform alive. Enterprise customers would be far more likely to invest in something like this if it comes with a Windows desktop instead of Linux.

Returned the 7 inch hp tablet... did everything I wanted to do but I found seven inches to be too small. I wanted something where I don't have to keep spreading and pinching. I do that on my galaxy s2. explained my situation to a friend and he is selling me is 1st generation ipad for 150 cause he wants to upgrade.

IMO, you may not be happy with an iPad 1, it won't run certain apps and its most definitely under powered by today's tablet standards, plus the battery on it probably sucks. If I were you, I'd look around to see if you can find an iPad 2, nexus 10, kindle fire or nook hd in your price range if you are deadest on a "full size" tablet.

Amazon has a bunch of SanDisk memory cards and USB drives as their Deal of the Day. Great prices.
