How confident are you that you're allowed to make a left turn there?

The amount of vehicles out here in Minnesota with "salt life" stickers is so weird.

this needs further exploration. I'll pm ptk to find out where exactly this intersection is located.

yeah, if i can't immediately make the left, i pull way forward and out to the yellow line so cars can pass me on the right. because otherwise, the people waiting to get out onto militia hill road are double screwed- they have to wait for the traffic going northbound (toward the vantage point in that pic), and then wait for all the backed up southbound cars to get through (90% of the traffic at that stop sign is turning left). And by the time the southbound backup is cleared out, there's usually a fresh batch northbound.

that stop sign can really, really back up. I've sat on the hill for 15 minutes (I live 1/3 mile up from that stop sign). If the turnpike has a backup, that is the 'alternate' to get to the blue route when people bail from the turnpike at willow grove or fort washington. It can back up way past my house. which is annoying

Only time I've gone down that road was because of bad traffic and the desire to go to the ft wash wawa

Much as I would like to say Bucky is wrong, it seems like it is legal, reinforced by the dashed double yellow line* and widened shoulder on the right which seems to anticipate that people will be doing it. I can see why the bus driver would be annoyed though , after waiting of oncoming traffic to finally clear and then you've got a guy turning in front of yoiu. Next tiem I'd just turn around in someone's driveway.

*that's an interesting marking. what exactly does that mean? there's no way in the world it's safe to pass on the left there, and a double yellow still wouldn't prohibit a left turn. Is it actually just a wink to let you know it's okay to turn?

PS: Man. I would want to tear my hair out if I were at that stop sign on Militia Hill road. How can you tell on coming traffic is going bear rihgt (in which case you it would be okay to cross) or turn left? there's no way you could trust signals.

hahahaha you've stumbled on one of the most annoying things in my existence. I probably travel that route 5-10x a day. And probably 20% of cars who go up Militia Hill use their turn signals. So you sit there and wait for the car(s) to pass and they turn right and made you wait for nothing. I scream at them. Maybe that CBD oil can serve multiple purposes

I'm afraid I'm gonna get tboned going up butler all the time. The way the road winds it's like militia road is the natural path. Always feel like I should use my turn signal left going up the hill just to make sure.
