My kids' schools are reopening for hybrid in November or you can opt to keep your kids remote.

My son's school (middle school) would run a hybrid plan for the returning students by splitting them up into A group and B group. A would be in-person Monday and Tuesday, B would be in-person Thursday and Friday. Then on alternate weeks, A would be Wednesday and B would be in on Wednesday.

My daughter's school (3rd grade) would also split into A and B groups however, group A would be in person from 8:30 to 11, then remote and unstructured (no virtual/zooms, etc.) the rest of the day and B group would be remote and unstructured in the morning and then 12:45 to 3:15 in person Monday to Friday.

Seems like for my daughter's day she'd spend more time on the bus than in the classroom.

We're still waiting to hear what our plan is after Novemeber. They sent out surveys last week

My in-laws came today with a U-Haul containing their piano, which nobody in their home has played for many years. It badly needs a tune but all the keys work so hopefully not too much maintenance needed.

It's a ca. 1910 James & Holmstrom transposing piano, meaning that there's a lever that shifts the entire keyboard over a bit so you can change keys without having to transpose while sight-reading. However this mechanism is no longer functional, not that I care much. This was originally purchased for my wife's great-grandmother as a 16th birthday present, and was transported ~50 miles by horse and wagon to her home. Pretty neat.

I've been jonesing for a piano ever since my digital piano became unplayable several years ago (the "action" became extremely noisy and many keys would get stuck down). I tried taking it apart to clean and repair but it was beyond my skills. I still have all the parts but calls to piano shops to see if anyone can finish the job have gone unanswered.

I saw Slowhand's thread after I created this, since the previous RT thread had been posted in more recently than his.

Slowhand got fucked more in 6 posts than Tupay has in a lifetime.

Ultimately, this is Tupay's fault. Surprise, surprise, I know. He made a post (a rather discourteous remark directed at me, mind you) in my newly created thread on Thursday morning so he knew about it. Then, inexplicably, and like some kind of sociopath, posts in the 50 pager later that evening about his lactose intolerance ("wah, I've got a tummy ache!"), bumping it with the sole intent of causing chaos and confusion. What a jerk. But Milty summed it up best.

Has anyone ever used "AVX" as a shorthand for "available?" My mom has used it multiple times in the last few months via text and I had to ask what she was talking about.
