I've gotten several quotes from this crew over the years, so I used that to beat them with. Literally the equipment was parked at a neighbors so I told them they should come down if there was going to be a truck of hot asphalt coming this way. Their first quote was $200 then the quote I got last year, then I got another $150. Fact would be that I am comparing apples from the same tree, but a tear it down and repave driveway has to be sort of costly. Under $1500 for 8 guys busting asphalt, hauling it away and then repaving new up to the garage lip (drive way sunk) seemed alright.

Paid when they were done and have a written contract for work and maintenance. They done most of the driveways in the neighborhood over the last 3 years.

I think the first 4 miles of my commute take as long as the final 20 miles. I've decided one of the vehicles in front of me must be ptooey and it's all his fault.

I had students do a timeline of major events in environmental history and one of the events was the neolithic revolution. One student's entry for this time in history was:

Neolithic (Agricultural) Revolution
Year: 1935
The term “Neolithic Revolution” in 1935 to describe the radical and important period of change in which marked the transition in human history from small, nomadic bands of hunter-gatherers to larger, agricultural settlements and early civilization.

I remember my grandfather telling us about the Great Depression and how they had to go from tribes of nomadic hunter-gatherers to early agriculture. You know, back in 1935. I think the earliest forms of agriculture were called victory gardens.

I laughed for quite a while at this.

True. He's actually a good student though normally.I just thought it was funny.

Looks like he got it from this website:

https://www.history.com/topics/pre-hist ... revolution

In the 3rd paragraph, it says the term "neolithic revolution" was coined in 1935. So that's where the date came from. Mystery solved.

Hey, if it is good enough for the Brits, French, Italians, etc. it is good enough for me!

Seriously though, for hardcore alcoholics, your weekly consumption is a light day for them.

That's basically what she said, plus my bad cholesterol and liver enzymes (?) looking good. And it's almost always red wine and light beer fwiw.

I thought the every single day thing indicated dependency, but she noted that I have three little kids.
