Very interesting. Murkowski less of a surprise to me than Collins. I really hope it doesn’t come down to Kelly, mainly because that seat is in the bag right now for Ds and I don’t see how turning that seat election into a Roe v. Wade referendum can possibly be good for Kelly. It certainly can’t get better than it is right now.

This is what I was saying about Trump. He should tell them to wait until after the election to do the RBG replacement votes. And they should even act like there will be no vote until after the inauguration. Every evangelical who was planning to stay home because they were disgusted by Trump will show up to vote against Roe v Wade. This death is absolutely devastating not just because of the SCOTUS composition, but also because it provides Trump an opening to get out the vote. I'm surprised they aren't already saying they'll wait. Now that I think about it, what would be even better for them is to have the 4 most vulnerable senators oppose the vote, get the evangelicals out, then do the vote in the lame duck period if Trump loses.

While this may bring attention to Roe v. Wade for evangelicals, it doesn't change things. No one thought RBG was going to make it to 2025, so someone who wanted Trump to pick the next justice would vote for him if she were still alive.

He lost by 7 points last time in a special. He certainly has a better shot than 1 in 300 million or whatever. 500k goes a hell of a long way in Mississippi.

Democrats have a high floor and a low ceiling in Mississippi. He has a decent shot of losing by single digits. He has very, very little chance of actually winning short of something unforeseen and insane happening. Hyde Smith is an actual incumbent now and hasn't had any major scandals that I'm aware of since the last election. She should be fine.

Looking at the 538 forecasts, I'd put it below Louisiana too, so 15th? on the target list.

You don’t play

It has been a while since I played Powerball. I did buy MegaMillions tickets a few weeks ago. They're both pretty low at the moment, and I try to only buy them when they're in 9 figures.

Pandemic has been bad for lottery sales, they go up more slowly.

The SC senate race is pretty crazy. I can't believe Graham hasn't just pulled away by now. But looking at the numbers, there are very few undecideds. 96% chose one or the other in the latest poll. And this flip flop is not a good look for him. I'm thinking about ponying up some cash to help get sycophant Lyndsey out of a job.

Trump believes RBGs dying wish is actually a lie concocted by Pelosi and Schumer.

Isn’t the ACA in big trouble already with 8 justices?

4-4 right now.

I think this is a smart strategy.

I don’t know why the republicans would want to provoke the dems on this. They probably think Biden would foster more unity starting in 2021 and that they may actually get some things done with compromise. However if they ran this through even the most moderate dems will agree to go along with blowing things up next year. Either the republicans see their party as fading into oblivion and willing to take drastic and disparate action before it’s too late or they think the dems are bluffing
I would rather see you lose than win myself

dems are generally cowards and even if they take the senate it'll either be 50/50 with a vp tiebreak or 51/49 probably. Just takes 1 or 2 dissenters (manchin+sinema) or whatever to derail everything. so republicans have multiple outs, a senate loss (51R/49D), a barely D senate with leadership who says 'no need to destroy the filibuster', or one that can't get the needed votes. everything falling the way of blowing up the filibuster to enact sweeping democratic legislation is super low. and even then, if they do...they'll mire it in lawsuits in the courts they've packed from top to bottom as i dont foresee a world where the dems add justices.

Also no one should hold even once ounce of hope that four republican senators are going to save this seat. You may as well give it to Barrett now. For the next 40 years.

Alex Jones out today saying RBG died weeks ago, but the news came out Friday...

Says Dems were trying to keep her death a secret as long as possible so Trump would have no time to pick her replacement...smh

does alex jones have much influence anymore? he seems more like the godfather of Q at this point and just following their lead. like i know he has his fanbase but i think people are being radicalized by his acolytes now, like paul joseph watson. they prefer the serious white supremacists, not the carnival barkers.
