I think expanding the Supreme Court would be really bad for America. So that's my prior.

I am kind of curious on the best positive cases from folks on what adding justices looks like and what the argument is and what the number is and how this helps anything.

I guess I'm very stuck on the idea that the Dems, if they add two seats, are looking at a world where John Roberts is once again the median justice. So they've nuked everything to have that. Congrats?

And if they try to add more than two justices they're going to a level that's utterly indefensible by what's happened in the preamble to justify the change.

Coffee now in the veins.

Let me ask you - what democracy functions as a democracy when the GOP minority is able to wield power at all levels if state and federal government? Look around the country - democracy is to reward the majority voice.

GOP has insulated itself by changing the rules to ensure it retains power even as a minority. That’s not democracy.

So, why should the democrats play by the rules they didn’t or weren’t allowed to help create? You could take a policy path to achieve more voters to your cause but again the GOP will change the rules thereafter.

So, the only way to go now is to change the rules. Add states, add judges, confront state level attacks on democracy.

Adding 4 justices to the Supreme Court would be extreme and feel fully justified after Mitch McConnell’s shenanigans in replacing Scalia and Ginsburg. He wants it both ways, so fine, why should “we” feel bound by any rules?

Having said that, adding four justices would of course be the beginning of endgame for any semblance of this Constitution or the rule of law.

Judges at all levels should be chosen by some kind of random lottery system in which all eligible attorneys are entered. It’s the only way to avoid this feeling of the team up to bat decides the rules of play.

Mitch not bringing a floor vote was the criminal part. Plenty of nominations have been voted down. Garland would have been approved and he didn't even allow the Senators that Americans elected to vote because of some made up bullshit. He has already packed the court with his actions.

He's 78 and I will not be sad when he dies.

Pretty wild watching these R Senators spin this on TV. Fucking embarrassing. Don't know how you could ever vote for these cowards.

Barasso was on MTP just now and Chuck Todd was even able to point out the insane hypocrisy. Barasso kept shouting "But the Biden Rule!"

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll from Minnesota finds Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden with a 57% to 41% lead over President Donald Trump among likely voters.

Very interesting. Murkowski less of a surprise to me than Collins. I really hope it doesn’t come down to Kelly, mainly because that seat is in the bag right now for Ds and I don’t see how turning that seat election into a Roe v. Wade referendum can possibly be good for Kelly. It certainly can’t get better than it is right now.

Seems the message is healthcare is on the line at least from Schumer and Pelosi. Not so much abortion.

Isn’t the ACA in big trouble already with 8 justices?

Joe Biden, calling Biden the “dumbest of all candidates,” and went so far as to declare, “maybe I’ll sign an executive order that you cannot have him as your president.”

The first debate between the two candidates is scheduled for September 29th, with moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News, and Trump said Saturday, “we’re going to ask for a drug test. We are. I’d like to have a drug test.”

Imagine feeling that you need to chant USA USA USA so that you can remember where you are. We might be coming up on that moment. We might need to chant that into the mirror just so we recall that we’re not living in some fascist regime of old.

At the same time I wonder how many heads would explode if there was some kind of turnout for liberal parades, whatever the hell that might be, or people march down the street chanting USA USA USA. Do you think that the trumpeters would lose their shit if that was chanted by Black people, or God for bid trans people. I don’t even know what they would do next, but then again maybe I should be very afraid of what they would do next.

Blocking entrances, driving through the parking lot shouting at people and blaring their horns while waving their Trump flags, filling spaces, and in general trying to disrupt things. This mob mentality is beyond ridiculous.
