Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

Do you ever wonder where old people buy all those old people cars? They're always long cars too. Bizarre

there's no host component to google maps via chrome, is there? I get a newer satellite view from my PC at home than I get on the PC at the firehouse. Can't figure out why.

I've been pretty much off the grid for 10 days. What'd I miss?

We're discussing taking Bucky's driver license now that he's reached that age and can't even safely negotiate a drive thru.

At what age do people start getting compliments for just doing normal things. Ex. "Bucky still drives, and he's 80. Good for him."

I think it's 80.

I've already put in a request to revoke his Atlantic County driving privileges.

Saw a clip about people wearing PPS gear at the reopening of the temple of the La Santa Muerte in Tultitlan, outside Mexico City. La Santa Muerte is a cult figure and is The Saint of Death. Aside from the PPS, it seems about right in the era of COVID.

I got lost in the wordslaw. Are you asking if you can download GIS from GMaps for use at the firehouse? If so the answer is no. Google has agreements with the remote sensing vendors and they encapsulate the image in a layer that maintains copy right as best they can (i.e., what you can get is a static image that is fairly unusable, especially if you want GIS or image manipulation capabilities).

We tried to digitally watermark SpotImage sensor data years ago to maintain copyright control in image data served to Google via limited use license and Google broke it when they reprocessed the images for their wrapper. In the end Google roughed up the images enough that Spot was good the the copyright was being honored (and I had to go find a different source of project funding).

If you want street data, OpenStreets might work for you. You have to deal with ESRI and ARC, but there was some type of available data access in OpenGIS. Its been 5 or 6 years since I worked with that, so hopefully it has gotten better, but knowing ESRI/ARCGIS it likely has gotten worse (because it is a company that needs to make money).

no, i used satellite view from the firehouse computer and got an older satellite view than I had seen at home.

went back home to validate, and sho'nuff the newer view is there.

go to 'Atria Lafayette Hill' and see if it looks like a construction zone (brown dirt everywhere) or lush green pastures-ish (the way it was prior to construction)

There is a popsicle that says "Now Open" :) If it is the Mason's home, I see a building across from the golf course. I do not see anything that looks like construction. openstreetmap seems to have gone full open source map product and dumped visual data (in my 30 second click fest). There is a GPS overlay that is interesting. Sourced GPS data from friendly travelers which shows some amount of road conditions for analysis (open roads by travel, probably speeds hidden somewhere, etc.).

Can't go down that rabbit hole.
