i've read numerous stories of people saying the $600/wk federal UI plus whatever their state provided (usually $100-$250/wk) was the most money they've ever made and how for the first time they weren't stressing about money in their lives

PA comes out to like fully gauranteed wages up to 55k or so. And anyone below that ends up making more than they normally do. If my math is right

What's the math? Most people on PUA are making the minimum which is like 180 a week and UC isn't much more.

Also taxes get taken out. So the 600 is really 540.
