(Jim) Inhofe told The Oklahoman newspaper that he spoke with Trump on Thursday about the base names, adding: “We’re going to see to it that provision doesn’t survive the bill. I’m not going to say how at this point.”

Such an easy win for trump to take, here he needs to go all in on his whatever. I don’t even know what his promises, then serving a white superiority fringe base agenda. It was so easy for him to blame Esper and the general if that’s what he wanted to do.

https://www.military.com/daily-news/202 ... hange.html

Person on the other side of this Trump tweeted he and Inhofe Will be the champions of saving the honor of the Confederate generals, and the bases that were named for these great men (I am putting words in trumps mouth, but...).

And the White House makes a move to crank up the pressure

Defense policy bills approved by both the House and Senate would change the names of 10 Army posts that honor Confederate leaders. The two versions must be reconciled, but both bills were approved by veto-proof margins this week.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday the White House would “leave that to Senator Inhofe as to how that works legislatively speaking,'' but said Trump "was assured by Sen. Inhofe that that (provision) would be changing and that Republicans stood with the president on this.''

That's not how humans will process it though. They'll see and believe the video, and ignore its refutation.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin took a hard-line Sunday against the $600 plus-up in unemployment benefits that was a part of the last coronavirus relief measure, saying “it just wouldn’t be fair to use taxpayer dollars to pay more people to sit home than they would working and get a job.”

Kill that get rich quick scheme by exploiting government handouts, unless you’re somehow affiliated with the White House then you Carla for taking advantage of a loophole, so get off your ass and “find some thing new” people. And Now a word from our sponsor, Ivanka trump

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH

this is like the 'people get rich off welfare' claptrap; the numbers don't add up.
perhaps if someone has more money receiving UC than they did at their job, their job wasn't paying enough.

They're still on the "people making more sitting at home" narrative, without realizing the problem isn't the extra unemployment compensation but the low compensation when working.

Heard replacement wages at 70% floated. Which is great for people who normally can save out of each paycheck. It will only bankrupt the the others.

This.

People need to grip the concept that minimum-wage employment is not living wage employment. We’ve beaten this to death. I’m not sure how that narrative plays out.

Unfortunately, and extra 600 bucks to too many people is a difference maker.

I’ve always thought this was perhaps a core difference between Dems and Pubs: Dems see a problem and support a program to address it, understanding that there may inevitably be those who game the system. If Pubs see one person gaming the system, it drives them bananas and they want to shut it down — with one important proviso: If the person gaming the system is rich, it’s not only ok, it’s to be encouraged.

It goes further.

I know a number of people (unfortunately some relatives) who'd rather see 10 innocent people in prison than let 1 guilty person free.

They're the same ones who justify the rich getting richer because who else will throw breadcrumbs to the pigeons?

On social programs much of it is spitefulness that someone is getting something they're not. They're the sibling that got jealous on your birthday.
