I’d like to believe Bloomberg is just keeping his powder dry for the stretch run.

With people stuck at home it seems like the time to pour on the gas with an ad assault, especially because the Trump campaign would hit back and dump their own expensive ads while he’s publicly being a jack ass. A pressure campaign would have Trump dropping provably false, demeaning, and flat out ridiculous ads left and right. It could be the kind of haymaker that would cement Biden as the choice in November.

Radical Left Governor @JayInslee and the Mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before. Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!

The counter position is the Capitol Hill autonomous zone as it being bandied about is sort of crazy.

Given America's short attention span is it better to blitz closer to the election or spread the ads throughout the summer?

Do think it's been weird how slow Bloomberg et al. have been in ramping up a Biden SuperPAC. Trump has been imploding on his own to some degree, but man the Lincoln Project stuff has been driving him nuts with almost zero funding. Cannot imagine what an 8 or 9 figure ad buy would do throwing his coronavirus words in his face or great economy into shitty economy or whatever the fuck else.

Seriously. Hopeful there’s a plan and that saturation this early will only fatigue voters in long run.

Bloomberg only cared about stopping Warren and Sanders.

You've said this before but it is still unclear how you think he did this. If anything his candidacy gave Warren's faded campaign a glimmer of light.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

It goes hand it hand with the theory that Warren made the ultimate sacrifice to extract Bloomberg from the race otherwise it would have been candidate Bloomberg.

On the flip side, people are probably watching more tv now than they will at any other point up until the election.

last I checked neither are in the race. he cared about this tax rates. i never said in the above post that he was the one that singlehandedly drove them out of the race. i said he cared the most about stopping them.

so he's fine with whatever the result of the rest of the race is. neither president is going to impact his bottom line much. why spend money on it?

So he spends a billion dollars?

Even if you're right ... could of just given that to Trump.

Definitely Stephen Miller's idea. Major dog whistle.

Exactly. People are watching more content via their TV right now, but I don't think anyone is watching actual live TV more now than they will in September / October when (presumably) all four major sports are active.

Plus, the strategy of "just let Trump keep talking" seems to be working so far.

I think Bloomberg will spend 9 figures between now and election day to defeat Trump, and his organization spent over $100 million flipping the House last cycle backing Democrats. But I'm not sure why he's being slow in ramping up. My best guess is he really bought in to the idea of being president himself, and is disappointed in how it went and taking some time to recalibrate to the new reality.

If his sole (or primary or major) motivation in participating in politics was lower tax rates, he's doing a really bad job. He would probably do better if that was the case by funding the party that supports his tax rates being lower.

But Warren was already done before he entered the race.

Also if he only cared about stopping Warren and Sanders, he might have spent a good portion of the billion dollars he sunk into the race into advertisements hitting Warren and Sanders.

I did not look at the date when I saw this. It was more of an 'of course' reaction to him having an event. Now it is an OF COURSE HE IS HAVING A RALLY THAT DAY.

Know this, he wants out of DC that day as Juneteenth is always a celebration and this year it is targeted as a planned protest day.
