Politics Thread: Dad, Pull Over! I have to VP!

Mike Turzai, Republican Speaker of the PA House and all around vile person, is resigning today. He was not running for re-election because he got a sweet gig with AQUA's new oil and gas company. Guess he can start there earlier than expected! Probably forces a special too, which the R could win and give them an advantage in November for that seat that is a bit of a tossup right now.

It’s an effort to orchestrate a cash grab I believe. Especially if it’s about McGrath. we actually get her campaign ads on TV. I have to assume that these things are being pushed to areas where there is money, and where there is general disgust with Mitch McConnell.

I get some too. Did you at some point like her FB page or a video that she put out? Even in her congressional race? Or your spouse? Or do a google or FB search for her?

I only occasionally see it online. I have seen it on the local NBC affiliate and I have definitely seen it on Sunday during CNN SOTU, which I took as a local spot.

WRT social media, as a grumpy old man I don't like shit, and I use Firefox and other tools to help be box in the tracking.

Killing off your voters in swing states does not seem like sound strategy.

He also wants a full blown convention with 50k delegates in an arena. Are all the Republican delegates stupid enough to attend? Especially since Arizona and Texas are potential hosts?

Yep, they're about McGrath. They need to do a better job of targeting because I'm not rich.

None to any of that. I don't like or comment on any political FB pages.

McGrath has more money that she knows what to do with and can be reasonably spent in a state as small as Kentucky on a senate race

Seems like she might be in quasi trouble in the primary though. Bernie endorsement against her not the end of the world, but the big local papers editorializing for the other guy isn't a great sign.

I found another one and clicked "why am I seeing this ad?" It said:

You're seeing this ad because your information matches Progressive Takeover's advertising requests. There could also be more factors not listed here. Learn More
Progressive Takeover is trying to reach people Facebook thinks are interested in Joe Biden.
Progressive Takeover is trying to reach people, ages 18 and older.
Progressive Takeover is trying to reach people whose primary location is the United States.

That's carpet-bombing, not targeting.

Not as much as Trump, at least within the campaign.

Do think it's been weird how slow Bloomberg et al. have been in ramping up a Biden SuperPAC. Trump has been imploding on his own to some degree, but man the Lincoln Project stuff has been driving him nuts with almost zero funding. Cannot imagine what an 8 or 9 figure ad buy would do throwing his coronavirus words in his face or great economy into shitty economy or whatever the fuck else.
