Florida Man at it again. I saw a longer version which I can't find now which has more of his diatribe. The beginning of this one cuts it off a bit, but he called it a false flag.

I have no idea if Fauci holds a patent on anything, but people have no idea how these kind of patents work. It's not like Thomas Edison working in his basement inventing a light bulb (in fact Edison's light bulb invention wasn't like that either). You have teams of people in labs working for corporations or universities or government making incremental improvements in various technologies. Holding "a" patent means very little for someone who has spent a career as a research scientist.

My father was an engineer and holds something 60+ patents. They were useful in his career, and he'd get a small bonus when one was accepted (he was very active around the time I was in college for some reason) but maybe one or two had any practical application. Even if the patent is commercially viable, the employer keeps almost all of the profit. Maybe after a certain threshold, you'd get a fraction of a percent, split of course with everyone else on the patent.

Gov. Kemp of Georgia apparently playing fast and loose with the word "testing", announcing that everyone in Georgia should get tested, and supply exceeds demand. What is actually available is Covid-19 virtual "screening," in which you're asked about symptoms, exposure, etc. If there's some likelihood that emerges from this, then you are referred for actual testing. So, basically the same as before.

my biggest annoyance is I'm trapped away from my apartment where all my little jobs are. There's the garden and the aquaponics system and painting designs on my daughters' bedroom walls and about 4 tech projects I would love to get to. I agree that those handyman tasks are nice, even if I'm not particularly experienced wit many of them.

Been arguing with people on my local message board tonight who are pissed with Wolf pushing back the stay at home order and started digging into the numbers in Chester county. I wanted to head off the hospitals are getting paid to put corona as cause of death to get paid argument so I just looked at the total number of deaths in Chester County from any cause. From 1/1/2019 through 3/31/2020 Chester County averaged 95 total deaths per month. In April 2020, there were 277 deaths. Even with strict social distancing in place nearly 3x the average number of people in Chester county died. If you just limit it to death from natural causes it goes to over 3.5x the average.

The line of attack(AstroTurf) in the suburbs is that it's all nursing home related and that 1. Gov. wolf is responsible for their deaths and 2. Nursing home deaths shouldn't be setting policy
