He's getting credit now - his Coronavirus approval rating is significantly better than his overall job approval rating. Like shockingly so in a non-public thing I saw earlier today. Mostly driven by Indy & Dem Females, fwiw.

If the bottom falls out economically and at least in some regions health wise, it seems unlikely that would continue. And that seems pretty likely to happen.

I think this could be very bad for him, but it wouldn't be if the election was today.

Judging based on history, he's finished. But he's running against another senile old man.

Trump losing the election would be great. However, I'd also feel a lot better about the future of the country if more people actually realized what a hateful charlatan he was before then. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Great opportunity for Trump to show leadership, show calm, show that he and his administration are on task, and show (gulp!) compassion and empathy. Predictably, which is maybe why the question was asked, Trump devolved into media blame-ism, name calling, and hysterics. Par for this course.

Trump's answer is the answer of a sociopath. It didn't occur to him the question was about feelings because he doesn't understand human feelings because he's a sociopath. Seriously. He thought it was an attack on him because the feeling part went over his head. It just didn't register with him.

My brother was a Trump supporter and he told me today that Trump is an absolute idiot and he had made a mistake in voting for him. My brother tends to be pretty sensible. Trump's economic suggestions and stupid remarks are what ended it for my brother. He had been slowly changing his mind on Trump anyway, but the virus finished it off. Trump can't afford to lose too many supporters before it becomes impossible for him to win, even with all the built-in advantages..

That said, This virus is a wildcard thrown into the mix. He could easily use it to his advantage. And if there is widespread carnage in cities, the voter turnout will be much higher in rural areas and that will be it.

New Emerson poll out, and it’s good news for America:

https://emersonpolling.reportablenews.c ... oronavirus

They consistently had Trump polling +4 versus Biden before coronavirus hit.

Now they have Biden +6.

Overall, 46% of Americans approve of the job Donald Trump is doing as President, 45% disapprove, and 9% have no opinion. The approval rating is down from last month when the Emerson Poll had the President's Approval at 48%, and disapproval at 44%.

A plurality (49%) approve of the job that Trump is doing in handling the Federal Government’s response to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, with 41% who disapprove.

Two items of note:

1. Only 288 Americans have died. Once three zeroes are added to the end of that figure his approval rating will be in the toilet.

2. Despite his approval rating rising, he is simultaneously losing ground to Joe. Why is that?

Of course, we hope that doesn’t wind up happening... right?

Personally, and perhaps I am being Pollyanna here, but based on the Chinese numbers and what phase they seem to be in (and I know the problems with trusting the Chinese government), my guess is we don’t even come close to approaching 100,000 deaths.
