They shouldn't ask him questions at all. After each one of these briefings, the White House has to put out corrections due to him not knowing what the fuck he's talking about. If he's going to turn these briefings into a campaign event, don't ask him questions at all. Let the people that have a clue about what is going on talk.

Hope you're right. Americans tend "support the President" in times of crisis. Carter's numbers surged at the beginning of the Iran hostage crisis, and obviously pitted as it went on. And of course Bush was over 90% after 9/11.

Americans are dumb and forgetful, though. I can easily see Trump taking the tack of talking up how disastrous and long lasting the crisis will be, and the if it gets relativity under control in the next few months (which it might. Your guess is probably better than mine, but they're still guesses), getting credit for wrapping it up.

Of course if it continues to worsen through November I'm sure he gets defeated. Yay.

I do think this is a "rally around the flag" effect. And, weirdly, it's not showing up in Rasmussen, generally, the most Trump friendly poll.
