Spineless Republicans have allowed a conman and criminal to take over their party, and now feel powerless to stop it.

They know they can stop it but only if they’re willing to risk falling on their own swords.

Best case scenario--it's a collective action problem, and you simply need a few to take the leap and the rest will follow. In today's hyper partisan context though that's a bit like asking some NJ liberal to refrain from voting for Menendez--sure, I despise the man and I believe he's as corrupt as the day is long, but the alternative is another vote for Moscow Mitch and the Republican agenda.

But I don't believe that's really what's happening. It's important to keep in mind that Republicans are getting pretty much everything they really want from a Republican President with Trump--right wing judges, tax cuts, a license to destroy the environment for profit, and other deregulation, and continued growth in economic inequality. It's not just about them being afraid of their base.

But there are more troubling possibilities than partisanship and collective action reluctance. First, they might not care. We're still at a point where the basic problems of a Trump administration are rather abstract. I certainly believe his foreign policy is a total disaster, and it's doing long term harm to our national interests. But in terms of my day to day life, it's not making any real difference. If I'm a Republican Senator, my constituents aren't complaining, and it really doesn't matter anyway--none of this poses anything like an existential threat to the US. Even ISIS at its strongest can't really do anything much to us living here in the US.

Bush was a pretty terrible President, and the Iraq invasion was a miscalculation of horrendous proportions--at this point, in fact, I'd say it did more damage than anything Trump has done. But it took several palpable events for Bush's popularity to crash. Katrina, the Mortgage crisis, in addition to the realization that his Iraq policy was a costly failure. (You can add that his nomination of Harriet Miers and his attempt at immigration reform cost him support on his right flank and thus made them less vigorous in their defense of his other policy failures.)

It’s a tough sell as a win considering that he sidelined the United States and ceded power to Russia, Turkey, and probably Iran. He set it up to just step out of the way and look the other way. I do like that when I heard him talking about Erdogan he called him a very strong man. Well not only did a strong man out muscle him, he also help maneuver him. Are very stable genius he is a very weak moron.

Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the European Union and a key witness in the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, spent over $1 million in taxpayer funds on personal home renovations to his residences in both Washington, DC, and Brussels

Best people. Seems blurry to me if the renovations were on ambassador residencies. Mostly because I cannot see how this would have been approved.

Seems like Boris might've actually negotiated a Brexit deal. Will be interesting to see if it gets through parliament.

I heard something yesterday that said although he put a deal in place that is favorable to the EU, his voting block, which consists of 10 MPs from Northern Ireland, are going to be out on the deal. It completely screws them. So it would be shocking if it went through.

The Mulvaney below back is wild. First there was the statement for trumps legal team disavowed having anything to do with the His press conference , and then he got out there solidly behind the issue saying that basically the old fake news media completely misinterpreted what he said for their own devices. Of course those of us with ears, and eyes if you had to read it, see that it was clearly exactly as has been reported.

If describing the mechanics of quid pro quo worked in this scenario was not enough, moving on and saying that political bias is always part of the calculus so we should just get over it probably put a bow on this thing. Somebody suggested that this is part of a strategy where the White House team gets out there and just have a bunch of crazy conflicting different things to totally confuse the issue. I can’t see how that’s a strategy, but pretty obviously confusing the issue/approach has been thrown onto the table

Doral’s ‘16-‘17 revenue fell 13.8% and net operating income fell 62%. If we want to be fair about this, it is probably a true statement that there’s plenty of room, and whenever the G7 is scheduled the club’s calendar is apparently wide open.

Turns out Turkey didn't stop shelling the Kurds. Thought Trump figured it all out too.

Not sure if it was posted, and apologies if I did, but the emoluments case is back in the courts. The context of bringing it up is that I could not be more shocked with the cavalier announcement at putting the G7 at Trumps resort. Among shocking actions, this is somehow even more shocking. I think it is because of the transparency of the corruption.

But there are a lot of moving pieces, especially Labour MPs from Leave areas who had pledged to support the referendum's result.

"His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself - that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed."

- George Orwell, 1984

There is not a collection of words anywhere that better describe the Trump presidency.

A Colorado Springs lawyer appointed by President Donald Trump to a federal education board is a prolific author of self-help Illuminati books whose education company has been accused of handing out certificates to undeserving applicants.

Books include: "The Illuminati Secret Laws of Money,” “The Illuminati Handbook,” “50 Laws of Power of the Illuminati,” and “100 Secrets and Habits of the Illuminati for Life Success.”

He has donated to Trump’s campaign, and PACs to show his worthiness.

Trump is scheduled to talk to the two women making the first all-female spacewalk in a couple mins. Can't wait to hear that discussion. No confirmation on reports he is ceding the Moon to Turkey.
