Donny J and the Giant ImPeach: politics

All it took was one question from CNBC’s Eamon Javers to destroy his talking point.

“Have you asked foreign leaders for any corruption investigations that don’t involve your political opponents?” Javers asked.

“You know, we would have to look, but I tell you — what I ask for, and what I always will ask for, is anything having to do with corruption with respect to our country,” Trump said

I did not hear this sequence.

The same kind of sources where Woodward and Bernstein got their info. Lot of us bureaucrats in DC.

And a lot of professional Republicans strongly dislike the President. There's never been an administration so thoroughly staffed by people who do not believe in the Commander in Chief.

There is, to some extent, reason for their paranoia that is getting them into trouble now. They need to put his bad calls in the secret compartmented thing because otherwise they would leak. And in many ways those leaks would not serve the national interest. And really in no previous administration would this have been a concern because the people that worked in it would've believed in what they were doing and in the president generally. I don't mean the illegal dealing stuff, but the run of the mill stupidity that flows in his calls that leaked early in the admin when more people had access. You see it in that WaPo story tonight - a lot of that shit isn't wrong, it's just super fucking stupid.

But then there's the very bad stuff he says on top of the very dumb stuff he says and if they're trying to hide the bad stuff where he's essentially selling out the country or leveraging the power of the federal government to target domestic political rivals that ends up being problematic.

The original sin is we shouldn't have nominated a complete idiot and the country shouldn't have elected a complete idiot and it sort of spirals from there.

You take a lot of shit here because of your affiliation, a lot undeservedly. I'm glad you don't take it personal and are still here willing to give us details like this.

Ron Johnson is going to have a tough weekend. His Trumpy-de- Trump Trump nature VS his own words about what the diplomat told him regarding Trump was withholding aid to ensure investigations.

The Hong Kong mask ban worked out as expected. Telling the masses they will be crushed under an authoritarian rule unless they comply well into an uprising has bloomed into something closing in on rebellion. Unfortunately the reports of the doubling of Chinese troops is a pending issue, especially with nations promising to stay on the sidelines for not quid pro quo.

Well now I have to think that this surely is a sign of the beginning of the end:

Tucker Carlson says, “There’s no way to spin this.”
"I'm in a bar with the games sound turned off and that Cespedes home run still sounded like inevitability."

That is the spin--this is bad, but Trump is still the President, so, take that libtards.

Americans believe this is bad so accept that and then argue that it’s not impeachment bad.

That’s the strategy now after a week of fighting on principle moved needle heavily towards impeachment.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

An ex-U.S. Marine infantryman, who claims to be a combat veteran of the Afghanistan war, is involved in a far-right plot to smear Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts with claims of being in a long-term sexual affair with the 2020 presidential hopeful. The U.S. Marine Corps told Newsweek he did not deploy to Afghanistan.

Trump calls for Romney's impeachment

What, no treason? Dumb ass.

In other news, Collins thinks that the China request was inappropriate. No news what she thinks about HK, and the promise the STFU about it.

Second whistleblower is a thing now for sure. Same lawyer is representing this one.

Chuck Todd ready to challenge Ron Johnson to a cage match. George gave Jim Jordan a platform to spout the talking points.

I don't understand why they keep giving these guys a platform when they won't even answer simple direct questions.

What I really would love to see is one of them to have the balls to just cut the mic or feed when the defenders start spouting bullshit and conspiracies.

I could not have guessed that the outcome would be a sergment with Chuck Todd where Johnson goes nuts. It seemed like a lousy SNL skit. Johnson yelling out conspiracy theories, an Todd trying to reel him in.

What we are doing in Turkey/Syria, which seems out of nowhere, seems scary.

Not sure I understand the question as what we are doing is doing nothing.

Not exactly.

WASHINGTON — In a major shift in United States military policy in Syria, the White House said on Sunday that President Trump had given his endorsement for a Turkish military operation that would sweep away American-backed Kurdish forces near the border in Syria.
