FWIW - There is something seriously wrong with the water in Kentucky based solely on who they elect to represent them*.

*Elaine Chao, Mrs. Turtle and NHTSA appointee, has had more meeting to address Kentucky's needs, desires, and whims then any other state, double I think, so inside baseball might be a sticky thing for swamp thing Moscow Mitch.

I think he'd be basically right. The point is he's given Turkey free reign to secure border area with Syria at the expense of the Kurds. The rest is just bluster to fend off any blowback.

I will say he's been pretty consistent. He likes just ceding power to whoever is strongest figure around. Who's the President of the Kurds? Not anyone he can shake hands with or talk shit about on twitter. Erdogan, is certainly that guy, though. Not news that Trump's not a fan of history or complexity. I'm sure he just sees it as getting the inevitable over with as quickly as possible and having people he can deal with one on one, a situation that in his "great and unmatched wisdom" he believes he can always come out on top.

The White House announcement upended military and State Department plans to deter a Turkish offensive with a system of safe zones and joint patrols that were getting underway. And it bucked views by top officials that the Turks’ threat of an incursion against the Kurds was a bluff, according to current and former defense officials and people familiar with the U.S. government’s efforts to forestall a new Turkish military operation.

So Don did it himself, without any discussion with anyone except Erdoğan.

Apparently last week the US Defense Secretary spoke with Turkish Defense Minister where they agreed to that system of patrols and safe zones as the smartest approach.
