obama won it both elections. bush won it both times.

it has turned pretty red the past several years. and is still trending that way. who knows though? maybe all the broken promises about bringing factory jobs back will actually matter.

Sorry what I meant to say was weren't they predicting Ohio to be blue in the last election, but I may just be thinking of PA.

Pretty sure that was PA, WI, and MI. I think Trump was polling pretty well in Ohio leading up to the election. I may be mistaken.

According to polls reported on RCP at the time, it was always low- to mid-single digits between Clinton and Trump in Ohio in the months leading to the election. The tide started to shift in late summer and turned just about all Trump in October. Most of the polls in the two weeks prior to the election were within the MoE and Trump ended up embarrassing her.

I was thinking about this earlier, and all the polling about people being happy with the economy. Do the masses, the vast majority of whom don't meaningfully engage with the stock market, really feel that way? And strongly enough to overlook everything else?

Trump word of the day is "outrages" as in "outrageous".

@MittRomney
When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated.

@MittRomney
By all appearances, the President’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.

I am curious about how all this is affecting Biden in the primary polls. I mean the Hunter stuff is going to play with some people. On the other hand, Biden could clearly credibly make the case that he is the candidate that scares Trump the most.

WH said that they are taking a pass on supplying documents requested by the committees in the House supporting their investigations. Basically said that they will consider supplying information if impeached.

In my opinion, the potential D voters most likely to be swayed by it probably aren’t considering any dems aside from Biden.

To your point about the way it could help Biden among Democrats, I agree.

He’s good with quotes like this. The real question is if he’ll have the spine to vote for a conviction. I hope he does.

At this point, lawmakers having concerns about Trump’s actions without actually doing anything is akin to thoughts and prayers after a shooting. It’s empty and disingenuous.

An impeachment conviction will rely on some of these early Republicans to voice their objections to Trump. That's how you start breaking down the dam of opposition.

I can tell you that the organization I was working with at the time pulled all of its people out of Ohio with a month to go because the conclusion was so far gone.

In an interview, Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) said he learned of a potential quid pro quo from the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, who told him that aid to Ukraine was tied to the desire by Mr. Trump and his allies to have Kyiv undertake investigations that the president has sought.

Mr. Johnson raised the issue with Mr. Trump in a phone call on Aug. 31, shortly before the senator was due to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the call, Mr. Trump flatly rejected the notion that he directed aides to make military aid to Ukraine contingent on a new investigation by Kyiv, Mr. Johnson said.

If it's a crime to contact foreign governments and extort their assistance in the discrediting of one's political enemies, then I have some explaining to do.

Also, watch your back, pacino… if that IS your real name.
