President Donald Trump speaking to reporters before a meeting with Pakistani Prime asserted: “I would get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they give it out fairly, which they don't.”

Mitt is itching to do it. Collins and Murkowski probably the next pair. Lamar! is retiring so would be an easy vote.

At a closed-door briefing with the House Intelligence Committee last week, Atkinson stonewalled Democrats’ attempts to get answers — but only, he said, because his hands were tied by the Justice Department’s opinion, which was that the complaint “did not concern allegations of conduct by a member of the intelligence community” or an intelligence activity under ODNI’s supervision and is therefore outside the ODNI’s purview.

Loop hole. This is from an ICIG article about how that guy is a no nonsense, by the book player.

Romney is a yes.

President Donald Trump on Monday re-shared a video of Mitt Romney’s 2012 defeat to President Barack Obama after the Utah Republican senator called for more information on Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president.

Then again, when the chips are down we have heard words and witnessed lack of action.

What's the point? The Senate won't convict.

It's a trap!!!

I am coming at this with zero data, but I think the DSCC would be really happy with impeachment happening and the NRSC would not. It puts endangered Republican senators in a bad spot either way, and outside of Doug Jones there aren't Dems they need to protect in strong Trump states. Collins is in a really good spot right now to get re-elected despite the partisan lean of her state. I have no idea how she would navigate impeachment proceedings.

If the charges against Trump are seen credibly nationally it's also a fucking disaster for Tillis and the Georgia races and Ernst. Not to mention Gardner and McSally who are probably underdogs regardless.

Obviously the latest developments have not had time to really show up in a poll aggregator like 538, but FWIW Trump is at the closest to Obama's approval rating at the same point in his term as he has ever been: 42.4 on day 977 compared to 42.5 for Obama. That was the low point for Obama in his first term, though, as he began a steady climb toward 50% before the election.

Really kind of scary how similar our reactions are.

So if everything breaks right they can impeach during Trump's second term!

sort of-- seems to just be hedging on her and the six others parts.

seems more of an indication that they think pelosi is going that way and they do whatever she says.

with the current information we have about trump the republicans would probably not convict. However if there are official impeachment proceeding how much more do you think is going to be exposed?

Trump & Co. will continue to stonewall throughout any proceedings. There will be lawsuits to compel testimony and evidence. They will end up before the SCOTUS. That won’t end well unless Roberts continues to develop a conscience.
