1700 dental care being what it was, the wooden teeth thing is a legend. His dental problems started early, and if the supposition is right that it had to do with mercury-oxide, which had side effects. Washington has false teeth that were comprised of a composition of things. Human teeth (most certainly slaves), ivory, gold, etc. No wood, but also absolutely all false. According to this wiki page, Washington only had 1 tooth remaining at his inauguration.

It reminded me a bit of when Trump mocked the reporter from the NYT. I know politics is dirty business, something I learned first-hand, but it is so shameful that our politics have gone to these depths.

Yeah. Just yesterday though, I helped facilitate a meeting where 50 senior residents showed. They all live in subsidized housing and had many, many complaints about their complex from safety to maintenance that all really stem from the property manager not being good at the job they have. The seniors were afraid of retaliation, among other things. We had a few people from advocate organizations come as well. Many stood up and expressed their concerns and advocated for themselves in a powerful way. Gave me a fresh perspective on age. I felt pretty proud of them and empowered myself. Just not really in the mood to make Werther's and dentures jokes.

The transcript of that Biden answer is making it's way around the same way the Trump/nuclear one did.

Biden: “Well, they have to deal with—look, there’s institutional segregation in this country. And from the time I got involved, I started dealing with that. Red lining, banks, making sure we are in a position where — look, you talk about education. I propose that what we take is those very poor schools, the Title I schools, triple the amount of money we spend from $15 to $45 billion a year. Give every single teacher a raise to the equal raise of, getting out—the $60,000 level. Number two, make sure that we bring in to help the teachers deal with the problems that come from home. The problems that come from home, we need — we have one school psychologist for every 1,500 kids in America today. It’s crazy. The teachers are — I’m married to a teacher, my deceased wife is a teacher. They have every problem coming to them. We have to make sure that every single child does, in fact, have 3, 4 and 5-year-olds go to school. School. Not day care, school. We bring social workers in to homes and parents, to help them deal with how to raise their children. It’s not that they don’t want to help, they don’t know quite what to do. Play the radio, make sure the television — excuse me, make sure you have the record player on at night, the phone — make sure that kids hear words, a kid coming from a very poor school — a very poor background will hear 4 million words fewer spoken by the time they get there. There’s so much –“

Moderator: “Thank you, Mr. Vice president. “

Biden: “No, I’m going to go like the rest of them do, twice over. Okay? Because here’s the deal. The deal is that we’ve got this a little backwards. And by the way, in Venezuela, we should be allowing people to come here from Venezuela. I know Maduro. I’ve confronted Maduro. Number two, you talk about the need to do something in Latin America. I’m the guy that came up with $740 million, to see to it those three countries, in fact, changed their system so people don’t have a chance to leave. You’re all acting like we just discovered this yesterday. Thank you very much.”

I guess it is the last line of the main paragraph that is the soundbite? Not sure what other problems there are in what he said. Maybe a bit stream of thought.

It’s not particularly coherent. When he said about a “phone” after the record player, I was positive he was about to say “phonograph.”

Also, his post script after the moderator interjection was baffling. Bernie had fielded a question about Venezuela a bit before, but that had absolutely nothing to do with this.

The roughest part of this exchange though was that it was in response to a tough question that hit hard (especially in front of that audience) and he rambled his way into nonsense. This was the question:

DAVIS: Thank you, Senator.

Mr. Vice president, I want to come to you and talk to you about inequality in schools and race. In a conversation about how to deal with segregation in schools back in 1975, you told a reporter, "I don't feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather, I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation, and I'll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago."

You said that some 40 years ago. But as you stand here tonight, what responsibility do you think that Americans need to take to repair the legacy of slavery in our country?

The man then-candidate Donald Trump called "my African American" at a 2016 rally is leaving the Republican Party and no longer supports the President.

Gregory Cheadle, of California, told "PBS NewsHour" he believes the Republican Party is pursuing a "pro-white" agenda and using black people like him as "political pawns."

I liked the humor of the situation. I do think that it is not the entire GOP, but there are more then plenty of choices.

There appears to be a very serious whistleblower allegation from the Intelligence Community. May pertain to senior WH officials.

I cannot think of Iran’s strategic reason for attacking SA in the way it did. It’s a significant escalation that would normally be the preface to all our war. Too big an attack to simply be a “see what we can do” or a “let’s get back to negotiating table.”

I think it’s presumptive to hang it on Iran. For every reason in the world that you’ve been trained, you would believe that it would be Iran, but some facts seem a lot more than prudent.

The “you” in this case is really pretty much all of us.

Take it for what it’s worth, but there was speculation that by decreasing Saudi Arabia’s oil supply, Iran might think that sanctions could be eased on them to help make up the difference.
