Maybe they meant the original freemason.

Declaration of Independence is not the Bible. It's a statement of enlightenment humanism, with reference to a creator (not God) reflected its deism.

The Texas legislator wasn't citing the Bible for one's inalienable rights to maintain a personal arsenal. (Or if he was, the Bible wasn't in the original post, which is the extent of my research in the matter)

The idea from Locke and Jefferson and the rest that people have natural rights from God isn't some off the wall, out of the mainstream idea. Doesn't mean it's right or anything or that it applies to the 2nd amendment, but it's an extremely commonly held sentiment.

my take on the DOI (as us cool kids call it) was the the the only "god given right" is that all men (meaning all humans, gender neutral style) are created equal.

source: we had a book club type thing many years ago where we discussed this very document

“the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them”

The point being, as JH alluded to, that the most fundamental rights of our form of government are bestowed upon us by a Creator/God (a distinction without a difference in this context) and it is the purpose of government to “secure these rights.” So, a reference by a Republican Congressman to “God-given right” does not represent some fringe view but is, in fact, quite a mainstream idea for our country and it’s government.

As uncomfortable as some of us may be (and I include myself in that number) with the notion of God in our government, we are wise to tread carefully on the subject. Without certain rights being bestowed upon us by a Higher Power and being, therefore, “unalienable” we would be left with our fundamental rights being determined and conferred upon us — or taken away — by other humans. You can decide yourself which is the more reliable source of our most fundamental rights.

Fox Business News anchor Stuart Varney [sp] was ask by Joe Walsh if he though Trump lies, Varney said no. Walsh pressed, and Varney said never. He said he spins but does not lie.

Fox trying to get back in Trump’s good graces, or FBN claiming the crown?

Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east. #alwx

Our Meteorologist in Chief added this nugget:

"We don't even know what's coming at us. All we know is it's possibly the biggest. I have -- I'm not sure that I've ever even heard of a Category 5. I knew it existed. And I've seen some Category 4's -- you don't even see them that much," Trump said at a briefing with officials at FEMA's headquarters in Washington, DC. But a Category 5 is something that -- I don't know that I've ever even heard the term other than I know it's there. That's the ultimate, and that's what we have unfortunately," he added, in reference to Hurricane Dorian.

September 2017 - Hurricanes Irma and Maria
October 2018 - Hurricane Michael
August-September 2019 - Hurricane Dorian

Thats all well and good. But our gexas legislator likely considers himself a Christian, so there's a pretty deep contradiction. The doi is not a Christian statement.

Georgia governor twisted himself in a pretzel thanking Trump and the White House in general. No mention of NOAA, or FEMA.

Borass Johnson is quite the tyrant. Now he is suggesting a general election October 14th, 2 weeks before whichever flavor of Brexit happens, to try to turn Parliament to his favor. I will now admit that I do not understand Britain/UK's version of representative government at all.
