Uncle Blazer @blakesmustache
Thread: House Democrats have a strategy for removing Trump from office. Not only is it a good strategy, it’s the very best strategy available in terms of both substance and timing. This thread will explain what the House is doing and why.

First, House Dems know they can vote to impeach Trump right now on multiple bases, including obstruction of justice, violations of the Emoluments Clause, gross unfitness for office, and more. They also know the Senate will NOT convict for any of that.

Rather than rushing to impeach and failing to get a conviction, House Dems are working hard to put together an "ironclad” (using Pelosi’s words) case against Trump. The centerpiece of the ironclad case is that Trump is compromised by money laundering for Russian oligarchs.

House Dems are betting it all that Trump is compromised by Russian money laundering. They already know it’s true and they know where to get the evidence needed to prove it: from Trump’s bankers (Deutsche Bank) and his tax advisors (Mazars).

Getting evidence from Deutsche Bank/Mazars has been the primary focus of House General Counsel (Douglas Letter) ever since he was hired by Pelosi in January. Subpoenas were issued to Deutsche Bank/Mazars back in April and the cases have been working their way through the courts.

For more on how the House will get the DB/Mazars documents, read the thread linked below. For now, let’s just say the strategy is sound and the House should get the documents from DB/Mazars by November of this year, a full year before the election:
Thread: The article linked below is key to understanding the House’s strategy for getting Trump’s tax and financial records from Mazars and Deutsche Bank for use in the impeachment inquiry. Read this thread to understand how the House’s strategy will work. https://thehill.com/policy/national-sec ... would-help

Once House Dems get the DB/Mazars documents, they have a team in place to analyze them, namely Daniel Goldman (former SDNY deputy chief of organized-crime unit) and Daniel Noble (former SDNY co-chief of the complex frauds and cybercrime unit).

Goldman and Noble will put together a killer case showing Trump to be a career money launderer for the Russians. This not only makes him a criminal, it also means he’s compromised and beholden to Russia. This is way beyond any of the other evidence against Trump; this is nuclear.

Once the case is built, Pelosi will take the podium and announce formal impeachment hearings, complete with the smoking gun. Pelosi will detail the evidence House Dems have gathered and the electorate will suddenly awaken from a long, gaslit slumber.

Don’t worry, all the other goodies will be in the Articles of Impeachment: the emoluments violations, the obstruction, the racism, the lying, the rapes, all of it. But the nuclear bomb is the money laundering. And it’s not just a little bit of money laundering, it’s massive.

If you want to know more about the money laundering, read @craigunger ’s #HouseofTrump, listen to episode 4 of @AssetPodcast, and read up on what Deutsche Bank already has admitted to in terms of money laundering. It’s vast and it will blow your hair back.

And we know all that just from what’s public. Imagine what we will find when we get the receipts. You can bet Goldman/Noble are licking their chops. And it’s not just Russia: Letter said during oral argument on 8/23 they are looking at money laundering for Russia AND the Saudis.

I don't know about all this, but I do know that

1. This will change hardly anyone's vote. Read Brannt's posts upthread, 40% of the country is dumb enough to think that this guy is some kind of business savant and they will just fit this new information into that schema.
2. This is just another pretext for centrist corporate Democrats to not actually do politics or policy in the runup to 2020. Pelosi would rather suck up all the oxygen in the room with this than talk about healthcare, education, etc.

I have no idea whether that guy is right or what his sources are. However, I can say as a matter of fact there's a lot more ongoing investigation into Trump's financial history than has been made public.

Speaking of ads, I was up in NYC at a conference the last few days. I was walking through Times Square on Monday when I noticed a pickup truck driving through the intersection. Now that is certainly not newsworthy except that it was towing a giant billboard emblazoned with a picture of our dear leader and the script "TRUMP 2020". Needless to say, the guys in the truck were getting flipped off left and right. Wisely, a police car was trailing them.

This will surely bring the fake news tweets.

New York (CNN Business) - MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell said he was "wrong" to report a thinly sourced story about President Trump's finances on his prime time show Tuesday night.

"Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president's finances that didn't go through our rigorous verification and standards process," O'Donnell said in a tweet Wednesday afternoon. "I shouldn't have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight."

Effective 10/29:

USCIS no longer considers children of U.S. government employees and U.S. armed forces members residing outside the United States as “residing in the United States” for purposes of acquiring citizenship under INA 320.3

Per this "new" doctrine, if you are in the military and stationed overseas and have a child, that child no longer has natural born citizenship. The child can be naturalized, but this removes all ability to claim the child is a natural born citizen - thus ineligible to run for president. Seems to me like it is an anti John McCain rule.

I mean he was wrong to report this and it was stupid but Trump and his cronies do this kind of shit every fucking day of the week and nobody bats an eye. The one primary difference is that the crap that Trump, et al push is demonstrably false, whereas the stuff O'Donnell was peddling could yet have basis in fact. Still doesn't mean he should be reporting it until it is verified.

Side note - I have never been a fan of O'Donnell's. I think he is essentially the Dems version of Sean Hannity (or similar).

This is a disgrace. Perhaps we can fix it by having draft dodgers lose their citizenship.

Gillibrand Never really seem to get off the ground. I mean let’s face it she’s just infinitely forgettable. What do I remember most about her candidacy? It was that she took Donald Trump’s money to run for the Senate at one point. That’s pretty shitty if I’m trying to come up with positions, so it’s good that she’s gone.

That report that Trump offered pardoned to help fast track his wall has been replied to from the White House. The reply is predictably that he was just kidding. That of course means that the jack ass said it. The jack ass told staff that they should do whatever it takes no matter what it takes no matter the legality to implement his ridiculous vision and that he would pardon them. When he gets caught with his long tie shoved in his pants fly then he comes up with the idea that he was just kidding. What the fuck is he nine years old?
