As a conservative and a former Republican who rejected Trump from the very beginning, I've struggled to understand how anyone except racist garbage can support him. At first I thought he was just a boob, a pompous orange buffoon, an idiot savant. He's all that PLUS a criminal, racist, narcissist, delusional lunatic.

I don't have the answer. But some very close friends still loudly support him on social media. It's awful.

There's a good thread by Teri Kanefeld noting how liberals saw that America was founded on privilege for select white male landowners, and gradually grudgingly other groups have gained rights. Liberals celebrate this, Trumpers lament it. Every thing that liberals see as progress, Trumpers see as a loss. "My tax dollars paying for your <welfare queens> <lazy immigrants> <dirty muzlims> "

There is true hate in many Trumpers, but I think in most it's just astonishing and willful ignorance.

Very good post. Regardless of your political leanings, it’s transcended by Trump. I divide the Trump-supporting world into four categories (plenty of overlap):

1) The racist/misogynistic/bigoted
2) The evangelical/Christian right that are willing to sacrifice their core Christian teachings for Bret Kavanaugh
3) The poorly-informed
4) The selfish who know better

I’m most bothered most by the last category. Without them, he is toast. They create the narrative around him.

I’m done arguing with people, including family and friends. You are irredeemable if you support him. I don’t need to have further conversations. This isn’t McCain or Dole. This isn’t about policy.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

“The President is committed to all Americans, including our great hardworking coal miners," White House spokesperson Judd Deere told NBC News. "It is because of President Trump’s economic policies of tax cuts, deregulation— including rolling back the previous administration’s harmful and unlawful so-called Clean Power Plan — and energy independence that coal miners are winning.”

Don’t know if anyone else heard that the miners are in a shit position. The Blacktool standoff in Kentucky says times are tough.

"They do stories so big on Elizabeth 'Pocahontas' Warren's crowd sizes, adding many more people than are actually there, and yet my crowds, which are far bigger, get no coverage at all," Trump tweeted, deploying his derisive nickname for the Democratic presidential hopeful.

Deutsche Bank said in a court filing Tuesday that it has tax returns relevant to House Democrats' subpoenas for financial records of President Trump, his family and his businesses, but the bank didn't publicly identify whose returns it had.

The bank also said in its letter to a federal appeals court in New York that it has tax returns "related to parties not named in the Subpoenas but who may constitute 'immediate family' within the definition provided in the Subpoenas."

President Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars’ worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.

He also has told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly, those officials said.

Didn't he take hits on this 8 or so months ago? the rest of the story

I thought Donald Trump was the new and more effective Pat Buchanan.

USA Today/Suffolk
Biden 32

Harris 6

Quinnipiac
Biden 32
Warren 19

So far looking like not the start of a trend

Those account for about 70-75% of voters so there ain't much more to go around. Of the bottom five, you'd think Klobuchar/Booker voters may lean somewhat toward Biden with the rest, who knows. Basically what I'm saying it's tough to see Biden getting above 50% support in a 4-5 person field.

I think if Bernie gets out then Elizabeth Warren wins but Bernie isn't the kind of guy to get out. Ever.

Phil Hartman's Donald Trump visiting the Church Lady and her niece (Fred Savage) with his new friend Marla Maples. The sketch just nails some Donald themes that are still prevalent, maybe baked in personality defects, through this day. The video is at the bottom (if I get a chance I will chase down the youtube). It is hilarious to think about the CC's today as a delicious double skewer.

Great point. He was Trump's friend, Putin's friend, but right now he's Joe's friend.

Bernie and Warren do seem poised to split the far-left-but-not-insane vote. Joe's got the center lane to himself.

Monmouth put out a statement calling their own poll an outlier, but solid from Murray on the transparency, solidifying my opinion they're the best public polling outfit going (non NYT Upshot division).
