She balked at the idea that it would need to be a tax because it will come from increased revenues. Someone asked if they 'did the math' on this idea. It made no sense whatsoever. Also the $5B will be snagged from other existing funding of other department. I guess likely EPA, Interior, and CPFB (even though it self funds).

Good try. The administration doesn't support free trade. Fake news Sarah!

this happened with replacing my wife (when we moved out of the district); the school board selected the guy she ousted from the board, to the dismay of a lot of people. it's not a great look for any governing board, regardless of party, to put in place someone who so recently was rejected by the people you are to represent. This is a bit like if the Democrats had put Clinton in place as Speaker of the House.

Where does the notion come from that a loser in an election has been "rejected" and the voters "said no"? They said "yes" to her opponent, not "no" to her.

If anything, the voters said "no" to the party and the governor should appoint a D to fill the seat.

a) Voters elected a Republican to the seat

b) The governor winning re-election last month by 6x the margin Sinema beat McSally gives the governor plenty of democratic legitimacy in his own right

i should have made the emphasis on the "IF", because I was saying that is a better argument than the candidate one, not that it's a good argument at all

Ridiculous that she ran for the senate, lost, and still gets there anyway.

I could see myself half trollingly making this argument if it was a Dem who lost a close Senate race & a Dem gov, but I don't understand it on the merits and it's been all over Twitter today. Is Doug Ducey's ex-Chief of Staff or Jon Kyl or any of the other unelected people more democratically legitimate to serve as an appointed Senator than someone who just narrowly lost a race?

She ran for the senate and lost. 6 weeks late she's there anyway? Ducey completely ignored what the voters wanted.

The person who got the most votes in 2018 is already getting the other Senate seat, which is what voters wanted. Someone appointed is going to be by definition not someone chosen by the voters. Do you think it would have been more in line with what voters wanted to pick Kirk Adams or beg Kyl to stay on for two more years or whomever else than to appoint the person who just narrowly lost a statewide race? Who should be Arizona's 2nd Senator?

I am simultaneously worried (as an anti-Trump person) and amused (as someone who enjoys a chuckle at the Democratic party) that the frontrunner for the Democratic Presidential 2020 nomination is someone who lost an election 1 month ago to Ted fucking Cruz.

Joe Biden ran in Texas?

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had this to say about the Flynn sentencing hearing during a rare press briefing on Tuesday afternoon: "The FBI broke standard protocol in the way that they came in and ambushed General Flynn."

Ahh, seems like only a week ago that SHS was telling us that she hoped to be remembered as transparent and honest. Wait, that was a week ago.

As with Brexit, the US will be voting again for President in 6 weeks.

Mueller is about to prove conspiracy ( the legal word for collusion) to steal the 2016 election.

With the power I have vested in me, I am calling for a redo election.

Save the date. Jan 29.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The United States pledged $5.8 billion in aid and investment Tuesday for strengthening government and economic development in Central America, and another $4.8 billion in development aid for southern Mexico.

So is Mexico building the wall?

17 entities of the Donald are under investigation.

So much for Trump demanding they not cross a line.

In other news a well known historian calls the Don as lds action treason.

Finally, heeding the words of the judge the former National Security adviser took the judge's offer and delayed sentencing until after he completed his work with Mueller.

There was some talk about prison! Shocking!

Had to unfollow AOC. She likes hundreds and hundreds of tweets a day and a large percentage of them show up in my feed. She should also probably not call something fake news. Her COS is not good at his job.
