Yeah, losing the breadbasket of the country would've been great for the Union in the late 19th century. I'm sure everything would've turned out great.

Ironically, there would probably be a wall built between the USA and the CSA.

How much longer would slavery have lasted in a victorious CSA? Eventually between slavery, segregation and de facto Apartheid, the CSA would’ve been shunned and embargoed by the rest of the world.

not really, Reddick was one of the DCCC ideal candidates, veteran born into a republican family that converted to Democrat when she saw the light, etc etc

Wallace had and has lots and lots of money and is going to blanket the airwaves. i'm not in tune with Bucks County so I have no idea if he actually has a groundswell of real support on the ground or not?

I know if I was someone looking to spend my team on only one competitive district, it'd probably be Lehigh Valley, not Bucks. long-term that is going to net a lot of positives

Yeah, but we have Gorsuch and another conservative SC justice on the way; right, Rococo4?

Am hoping for Thapar for the nomination for SC, but not looking likely.

Was thinking about the randomness of chances of becoming a Justice. You have to believe like 85% of those people of Circuit Courts want to be on Supreme. All the factors - age, gender/race, who controls Senate, who is President, who is leaving the bench, etc, all have to line up - just to be in like the final or Top 5 or 6. Probably (definitely) some really good people on both sides of the spectrum never got a chance due to cicrumstances out of their control.

or steals a seat out from under you.

Not SC but I guess you also have to hope that a political party doesn't just delay the process until you die.

I think history books have treated him very kindly. I did a report on him in middle school and I thought he was a swell guy. Now I realize he was horrible, but that took years to sink in.

CSA would have joined the axis powers in WWII and Hitler would have won unless we developed the bomb first and used it. Mexico would also be part of CSA and spanish speakers would have been deported, enslaved, or exterminated.

Yea. Wallace just spent a fuck load of money. The only candidate that I saw had people on the ground was Bacher. By the time Reddick sent out her first campaign mailers I had gotten three or four "Reddick is a secret Republican" ones from Wallace.

since it happened before he was in congress, the R's will do nothing, not that they would do anything even if it happened last week.

It will be up to popular opinion, which means he'll skate. I hope I'm wrong.

One twist on Jordan is there are few (no?) members of the GOP caucus who GOP leadership hates more. Ryan's office a few days ago talked about the seriousness of the charges against him, but said they'd wait for OSU's report before issuing a final verdict. There is nothing Kevin McCarthy would like more than for Paul Ryan to shiv Jim Jordan. No one in leadership is going to go to the battlements to protect Jim Jordan, which is good.

On the other side of the coin, Trump, in his inimitably stupid way, has blundered in on Jordan's side so that will likely keep GOP rank and file members mum.
